For the first time, the initial official snapshot of renowned Filipino director Lav Diaz is revealed for his upcoming project titled “The Sacrifice,” which is a psychological horror movie being filmed in the Philippines as we speak.
On occasion, the acclaimed filmmaker has taken on acting roles. A recent photo sneak peek showcases Diaz in character as Pilo, a mysterious and reserved jungle guide, guiding a band of vloggers through unexplored wilderness teeming with ancient rituals and folklore.

Renowned for helming critically acclaimed films such as “Norte, the End of History” and “The Woman Who Left,” which claimed the prestigious Golden Lion at Venice in 2016, Diaz discusses his character in the forthcoming suspenseful movie.
Diaz expresses his affection for the character, stating he’s complex – much like individuals we encounter daily. He suggests that the toughest challenge in life is striving to be a decent human being, and he believes Pilo symbolizes this internal struggle. Diaz also shares that he enjoyed portraying this role.
Diaz, presently participating at the Cannes Film Festival for his recent directorial work “Magellan,” featuring Gael García Bernal, expresses enthusiasm about teaming up with emerging filmmakers: “I truly enjoy collaborating with fellow filmmakers, particularly those who are new to the field. It’s invigorating to create cinema alongside younger talents.
