Even towards the end of the game’s production, we were shifting these flashbacks around. Discussing this with Craig, it was the first time I truly considered the gap between seasons. A lot of writing involves setting up events that are later paid off, and we had established certain things that would be resolved years down the line. That felt too far away, especially since this season heavily focuses on Ellie’s journey and her emotional truth about what she knew and didn’t know. Waiting additional years for Season 3 or even Season 4 (depending on where events unfold and how many seasons we ultimately produce) to reveal these answers seemed too long.
