Production on the upcoming Amazon Prime Video series, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, has temporarily stopped after star Sophie Turner sustained a minor injury. It’s unknown if the injury happened while filming or not. Amazon Prime Video stated they paused production to give Turner time to recover and expect to resume filming soon. While there’s no official return date, Deadline reports the break is expected to last two weeks, with the crew continuing to be paid.
The new series, created by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, features a cast including Turner, Martin Bobb-Semple, Jason Isaacs, Bill Paterson, and Sigourney Weaver. Based on the popular video game, Tomb Raider centers on archaeologist Lara Croft’s quest to uncover lost relics. When she was cast in September, Turner shared her excitement as a longtime fan of Tomb Raider and the character of Lara Croft. She acknowledged the challenge of following Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander’s iconic portrayals, but expressed confidence in Waller-Bridge’s direction, believing it would ensure a successful series for both the show and the character.
