The forthcoming Green Lantern television series from DC Studios and HBO, titled “Lanterns,” has unveiled its initial glimpses of Aaron Pierre and Kyle Chandler portraying the primary characters, John Stewart and Hal Jordan respectively.
As a dedicated cinephile, I couldn’t help but notice that Chandler, though not donning his Green Lantern outfit, subtly sports a green ring on his finger. The leading characters, casually dressed, stride along an empty stretch of highway in this scene.
According to the official summary, this series centers around two main characters: John Stewart, a fresh recruit, and Hal Jordan, an established Green Lantern. They are both intergalactic police officers who find themselves entangled in a mysterious case involving a murder in small-town America. The ensemble cast features Kelly Macdonald, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan, and Ulrich Thomsen portraying the villainous character of Sinestro from the Green Lantern universe.
The script for “Lanterns” was jointly penned by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King. These three, together with James Hawes, hold executive producer roles. Notably, Hawes is not only one of the executive producers but also directed the initial two episodes.
As of now, we don’t have a specific date for the launch of “Lanterns”. However, the initial appearance of a Green Lantern within James Gunn and Peter Safran’s reimagined DC Universe will occur in this summer’s “Superman” film. Here, Nathan Fillion is set to make his debut as Green Lantern Corps. member Guy Gardner.
Furthermore, it was also unveiled that an upcoming animated show titled “My Adventures With Green Lantern” is in the works. This spin-off originates from the widely acclaimed Max series “My Adventures With Superman.” In this new series, Jessica Cruz, a high school student, finds her life turned upside down when a Green Lantern Power Ring descends from the heavens and selects her as its defender. Matters become even more complicated when remnants of the Lanterns’ ancient cosmic war begin to arrive, along with their formidable alien adversaries. This is the gist of the official plot summary for the animated series.
