As a dedicated space-roguish gamer with a soft spot for both Star Wars and Ubisoft titles, I’ve been eagerly awaiting the Wild Card DLC for Star Wars Outlaws. The trailer alone has me hooked, with its tantalizing hints of Lando Calrissian and Kay Vess’s seemingly contentious partnership.

This week, Star Wars Outlaws is embarking on a fresh chapter with the debut of its initial story expansion called Wild Card. To celebrate this release, Ubisoft has unveiled a launch trailer that illustrates how Kay Vess and her companions become entangled in an escapade alongside the renowned Lando Calrissian. However, it seems they’ll initially find themselves on opposite teams.

In the criminal underworld, an outlaw’s reputation carries immense weight, and this is how the Empire manages to force Kay into carrying out their mission for them. If she doesn’t comply, the Empire will publicly reveal that Kay is one of their agents, prompting all the syndicates to target her for assassination. To avoid any trouble with the Empire, Kay must triumph in a high-risk Sabacc tournament against some of the game’s most skilled and possibly dishonest players, such as Lando.

Undoubtedly, this scenario seems poised to take an unexpected turn as Lando and Kay flee aboard their vessel. Beyond that, it’s unclear where the plot is headed, but it certainly adds intrigue to the upcoming DLC. Notably, Ubisoft has rolled out a significant update for the game, which eliminates compulsory stealth missions. From now on, Kay will have the option to blast her way out of tricky situations without jeopardizing her mission. The bulk of the major gameplay adjustments are detailed in the video below.

Ubisoft has been devoting considerable efforts post-release to the game Outlaws, as its initial sales were low and players expressed concerns about certain elements. With the recent update and the previous one, Outlaws is now appearing more complete than ever. Additionally, if you’re considering giving it a try, Amazon is currently offering discounts on Star Wars Outlaws for Black Friday.
