The confirmation that season 2 of the show would air was made last month, and now we can confirm it’s coming this fall. The premiere date for Landman’s second season was revealed during Paramount Global’s Q1 2025 earnings call by CEO Chris McCarthy. In a previous chat, McCarthy highly praised Landman, expressing his admiration for the show in the past.

‘Landman’ was one of the most significant shows this year due to Taylor Sheridan’s exceptional talent for capturing the spirit of the times, using neo-Western motifs such as rugged individualism, ambition, and working-class strife. These themes are set against modern discussions about energy, climate change, and economic growth. The show has contributed significantly to Paramount+’s success, making it the second most popular SVOD [streaming video on demand] service in the U.S. for hours watched in Q4.

In the highly anticipated series, both Ali Larter and Demi Moore, who shone in Season 1, will make their comeback, along with Thornton, Andy Garcia, Jacob Lofland, Michelle Randolph, Paulina Chávez, Kayla Wallace, Mark Collie, James Jordan, and Colm Feore. For Season 2, the ensemble cast is expanding to include Academy Award nominee Sam Elliott, who has officially joined as a regular character. Elliot is familiar with Taylor Sheridan’s extensive and well-loved Paramount universe, having previously played Shea Brennan in the prequel series “1883,” a role that earned him critical acclaim.

Taylor Sheridan’s Paramount Universe Continues to Expand

During the video conference, McCarthy additionally disclosed advancements about other series in Sheridan’s ever-growing Paramount+ universe. The spin-off of Yellowstone titled “Y: Marshals,” featuring Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton, is set to debut on Paramount around 2026. The inaugural season of “1944” is slated for a late release in 2026. Season 3 of “Tulsa King” will resume on Paramount+ in September, while the fourth season of “Mayor of Kingstown” is expected to premiere on the streaming service in October. The highly anticipated spin-off of Yellowstone, “Dutton Ranch,” which focuses on beloved characters Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) and Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly), has yet to receive an official air date.

The initial series of “Landman,” featuring ten episodes, wrapped up its broadcast in January and can now be streamed on Paramount+. Though it has been confirmed that Jon Hamm will not reappear (since the first season’s ending), viewers should look forward to Elliot joining the cast.

Elliot embarked on a lengthy career spanning decades, predominantly appearing in western shows such as Gunsmoke and Lance. In 1976, he gained significant recognition through his role in the television movie Lifeguard, often regarded as his breakthrough performance. Throughout his versatile career, he has taken on roles across various genres, including westerns like The Quick and the Dead, Conagher (for which he received an Emmy nomination), Tombstone, and The Hi-Lo Country; dramas such as Gettysburg and We Were Soldiers; and comedic parts in The Big Lebowski, Parks and Recreation, and Grace and Frankie.
