Lance Frank to Oversee Communications for CBS News, Stations, Media Ventures

As a seasoned media enthusiast with a deep appreciation for the industry’s movers and shakers, I can’t help but feel a surge of admiration for Lance Frank. His journey from Lake Charles, Louisiana, to the hallowed halls of CBS News is nothing short of inspiring.

Lance Frank will be responsible for managing both internal and external communication for the news, television stations, and syndication department within Paramount Global’s CBS division.

For the newly assigned position, Lance will manage all communication aspects involving CBS News, CBS Stations, syndication, talent, programming, and division strategy, as stated by Wendy McMahon, the division’s president and CEO, in a note to staff on Thursday.

Frank will be accountable to both McMahon and Chris Ender, who serves as the Executive Vice President of Communications for CBS.

In January, Frank was appointed as the Executive Vice President of Communications for the department, taking charge of strategic communication for McMahon’s executive team, syndication, prime-time newsmagazines, talent relations, and events. His responsibilities now encompass overseeing all external and internal communications as well as publicity for programs across national news, local stations, and CBS’ first-run syndication business.

In 2011, Frank became a part of CBS News as their inaugural associate. This program is designed to help young journalists refine their skills and acquire practical experience in various departments within CBS News. After this, he worked at Channel One News, a news channel aimed at schools nationwide. Later on, he came back to CBS News, where he served as the production secretary for the “CBS Evening News.

Frank hails from Lake Charles, Louisiana, and boasts an academic background from Louisiana State University’s Manship School of Mass Communication. He has also delved into executive education programs at prestigious institutions such as Harvard Business School, Harvard Kennedy School, and the London School of Economics.

McMahon mentioned that there’s a lot of work ahead in the upcoming weeks. He outlined a busy autumn filled with the biggest political campaign of our time, debuts of new syndicated programs, continuous program development, and the ongoing transformation of our local-to-global organization.
