In the series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, Kurt and Wyatt Russell portray the same character at different ages, and it appears a future episode will feature both versions of Lee Shaw appearing together on screen.
When Wyatt Russell was growing up, he appeared in a few of his father Kurt Russell’s movies, like Overboard, Escape From L.A., and Soldier.
The new Apple TV+ series, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, allows actors to portray the same character at various stages of their life thanks to its multi-timeline storytelling.
In the series, Wyatt Russell portrays a younger version of Colonel Lee Shaw, an army officer tracking down massive creatures called titans in the 1950s. Kurt Russell plays the older Lee Shaw, who begins the story under house arrest imposed by the mysterious Monarch corporation.

The show ‘Monarch: Legacy of Monsters’ now includes time travel, allowing characters to jump between different points in the story’s timeline.
Following a preview of the first two episodes of Season 2 in London, Kurt discussed the promising developments for the character Lee Shaw.
Russell explained that in the first season, they experimented with a unique approach – having the characters work together in a way that felt like science fiction. It created a strong effect, perhaps too strong, and ultimately led the story in many unexpected directions.
Kurt says his biggest wish was to share the screen with his son, and the show’s writers found a way to make it happen in episodes seven and ten, leading to some exciting scenes.
The host then finished his sentence with “…to be potentially in the same space.”
Kurt agreed, saying that was a good way to explain it. They quickly changed the topic to avoid revealing any plot details, but the conversation hinted that Lee Shaw will somehow encounter a version of himself before Season 2 ends.
