A man in China recently became an internet sensation after undertaking a 600-mile drive to propose to his girlfriend, playfully urging traffic to clear a path for him along the way.
Planning a proposal involves a few details. Besides getting an engagement ring, you might also want to arrange for a photographer to capture the moment.
Plus, it’s important to decide on a meaningful location. Instead of picking somewhere random in public or during a family event, consider a place that’s special to both of you.
Tan, a 26-year-old man in China, rushed through busy traffic during the Lunar New Year, asking other drivers to make way so he could propose to his girlfriend.
Man drives 12 hours with sign on car to propose to partner
According to the South China Morning Post, Tan drove for twelve and a half hours to see his girlfriend after she went back to her hometown in Guizhou. He even put a sign on his car to let other drivers know about his happy journey.
I saw this amazing post online! Apparently, this guy, Tan, is driving all the way to Guizhou to propose to his girlfriend. There are videos circulating on social media showing his car on the road, and the sign he had said, ‘Let me go first – I’m heading to Guizhou to propose to the love of my life!’ It’s so sweet!
Tan shared with Jiangxi TV that many drivers offered their congratulations during his journey, and a lot of them followed the sign’s guidance by pulling over and letting him pass.

The trip seemed to go on forever at the beginning, but I got more and more excited as I neared my destination. The generosity of the people I met along the way made me incredibly happy,” he shared, explaining that his girlfriend had accepted his marriage proposal.
Tan’s endeavour isn’t the only traffic-related relationship story we’ve seen recently.
Lisa Catalano, known for her ‘Marry Me’ billboards around San Francisco, says her unusual campaign finally led to some dates. After receiving thousands of applications, she’s now going on dates and even created special billboards for Valentine’s Day.
