Korea’s MAP and Singapore’s Momo Film Co Unveil Asian Production Alliance at Cannes Market (EXCLUSIVE)

The dynamic South Korean company, MAP (Making A Print), has formed a strategic alliance with Momo Film Co from Singapore. Together, they plan to co-create and finance a series of innovative film projects throughout Asia, as announced during the Cannes Film Market.

This partnership combines MAP’s established strength in commercial and critical success with Momo’s pool of rising talents, making the collaboration a promising force that could revolutionize the rapidly growing Asian film industry.

The alliance unites MAP’s proven commercial and critical power with Momo’s burgeoning talent base, placing the partnership in a strong position to become a trailblazer in the fast-paced Asian cinema scene.

With the arrangement in place, Momo Film Company assumes the role of MAP’s Southeast Asian project scout, seeking out promising regional initiatives that could benefit from joint production and financial investment. Both entities will collaboratively seek global financing opportunities and grants to bolster these projects.

Kicking things off is the film titled “Monna Lisa,” directed by Donku Lee, who made his debut in 2013 with “Fatal” that was featured in the Panorama section at the Berlinale. The team is collaboratively developing this project, aiming to finalize casting and pre-production details by the end of this year before filming begins in Q1 2026.

Established in 2015, MAP has constructed a portfolio that combines commercial triumph with artistic authenticity. Notable productions under their belt include “Ghost Train” from 2025, “Troll Factory” and “Exhuma”, both released in 2024, as well as “Unforgivable” from 2023.

Meanwhile, Momo Film Co, which is a part of Beach House Pictures and Fremantle, has swiftly gained recognition as a trendsetter in Southeast Asian cinema. They have produced notable works such as “Don’t Cry, Butterfly,” which won at Venice, “A Useful Ghost,” selected for Cannes Critics’ Week in 2025, and “Dreaming & Dying,” winner at Locarno.

Kim Young Min, MAP’s CEO and executive producer, announced the start of a continuous international collaboration. The goal is to bring together creative minds from different countries and create compelling, cinematic productions for worldwide viewers through this partnership.

Experienced industry figure, Kim Young Woo – known for his extensive work in film festivals – has secured a deal and will now be concentrating on international co-productions at MAP.

Momo’s Tan Si En stated, ‘This partnership with MAP offers exciting opportunities for teamwork and exchange of thoughts between South Korea and Southeast Asia.’ We are eager to create initiatives that strike a chord not just within our region but also on the global stage.
