Hideo Kojima, the visionary creator behind Death Stranding, is planning something audacious: he aspires to become the first individual to develop a video game in space. In an interview with The Guardian, he expressed his ambition to prepare thoroughly and master the art of docking for a journey to the International Space Station.
He said he’d like to stay there “for a few months” and “probably make games in space.”
He expressed his desire to be the pioneer, mentioning his confidence that space travel is achievable for someone of his age, 61 years old, as there are numerous astronauts who are older than him.
To the best of our knowledge, no video game has been developed for or in space yet, so if Kojima manages to bring his vision to life, he will undoubtedly be blazing a new trail. He also clarified that his intention isn’t just to go to space as a mere feat, like some celebrities and wealthy individuals have done. In his words, “That’s not space.
Kojima is chasing an endeavor that carries some level of risk, as it makes him feel more vital and alive. He likened this pursuit to what Tom Cruise experiences, describing it as a state where one’s self-worth is realized through living with the potential for danger at hand.
Interestingly enough, Cruise was once intending to venture into space as well. In fact, there were plans to launch him towards the International Space Station (ISS) in order to capture footage for a movie.
For Kojima, his recently released title, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, is now playable on PS5. If you’re new to the game, it’s recommended that you check out TopMob’s review of Death Stranding 2 and visit our hub for guides to ensure a smooth start in your gaming journey.
Besides Kojima’s aspiration to create a space-themed game, here on our planet, he and his team are diligently developing several forthcoming new titles, such as OD and Physint.
