Kojima Explains Why Physint Is His Return To MGS-Like Action/Espionage

Apart from Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Hideo Kojima has planned out his upcoming game development projects, which include his horror project OD and an action-espionage game called Physint that will revisit the genre of his iconic creation, Metal Gear Solid. Recently, Kojima revealed that the inspiration for his return to the Metal Gear Solid style came about during a personal health challenge.

During the pandemic, when I fell ill, I discovered a strong desire from many people for a game similar to Metal Gear, as shared with Edge Magazine through GamesRadar by Kojima. This sparked an idea in me for a fresh espionage-themed game. Upon reflection, I found the concept promising.

Similar to the Death Stranding series, the games Physint and OD will be distributed by Sony and Microsoft respectively. Earlier this year, Kojima mentioned that both games have been influenced by the ongoing voice actors’ strike. However, even without this delay, Kojima stated that Physint is estimated to be released five to six years from now, which could potentially place it beyond the current console generation.

As a die-hard fan, I’m eagerly awaiting what Hideo Kojima has in store next, but he’s keeping mum about the plot details of his upcoming project, Physint. However, he’s hinted that it will push the boundaries with state-of-the-art technology to blend gaming and cinematic experiences in a groundbreaking way. Contrary to popular belief, Kojima has no plans for Death Stranding 3; instead, he’s brainstorming ideas for a potential sequel that he’d love someone else to develop.

Recently, Kojima has shared an intriguing concept for another game, though it seems like quite the challenge to bring to life effectively. Intriguingly, he’s also mentioned having a USB drive brimming with ideas for future games, just in case fate should have other plans.

In the meantime, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach will be released on June 26 on PlayStation 5.
