Kojima did in Death Stranding 2 what he talked about five years ago. He put a bandana on Luca Marinelli and turned him into Solid Snake

Yesterday, we got our hands on an astonishingly cinematic and lengthy trailer for Death Stranding 2: On The Beach. Simultaneously, they disclosed the specific launch date and pre-ordering particulars.

What particularly piqued fans’ interest was the character named Neil, portrayed by Luca Marinelli. Remarkably, he bears a striking resemblance to the well-known Solid Snake from the Metal Gear series. Interestingly, this isn’t a coincidence – Hideo Kojima had actually noticed the actor about 5 years ago, as can be found on his Instagram.

Among the numerous actors I keep up with, Luca Marinelli has lately piqued my interest following my viewings of “The Old Guard” and “Martin Eden”. He delivered a remarkable performance as a villain in “They Call Me Jeeg Robot”, and I believe he’s on the verge of stardom, with his fanbase expanding rapidly. What’s more, if he were to wear a bandanna, he’d bear an uncanny resemblance to Solid Snake!

In the latest trailer, right at the 8:40 mark, I couldn’t help but notice that Marinelli’s character donned a bandana on his forehead – a move that felt like it was lifted straight from the Metal Gear remake. This subtle nod sent a wave of excitement rippling through the gaming community, as evidenced by the fervent comments beneath the video.

Kojima: “Screw it, give me Solid Snake.”

Oh my God, he brought back Solid Snake.

You just know that Kojima will name this legally distinct Solid Snake something like Hard Viper.

In addition to the references made to the Metal Gear series in the trailer, there’s also a notable appearance of Magellan Man, an enormous figure associated with the DHV Magellan vehicle. This character bears some similarities to Metal Gear Rex.

The sequel to Death Stranding, titled ‘Death Stranding 2: On The Beach’, will launch exclusively for PlayStation 5 consoles on June 26. It’s plausible that, similar to the original game, it might eventually be made accessible on different platforms in the future.
