In Niantic’s mobile game, the number of Paldean Pokemon in the Pokedex remains limited, with fewer than half currently accessible. Yet, a new addition is forthcoming – Kingambit will make its debut during an event specifically highlighting the Big Blade Pokemon.
Since 2020, Pokemon Go has featured Pawniard and Bisharp, which originate from the Unova region. Thus, it seemed inevitable that they would appear soon. What was unexpected, however, was a whole event dedicated to the Dark/Steel-type samurai. Here’s all the information you need.
Crown Clash event: Date & time
The Pokemon Go Crown Clash event will take place starting on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 10:00 AM and continue until Sunday, May 18, 2025, at 8:00 PM local time.
Players will need approximately eight days to accumulate sufficient Candy for the evolution process, which starts with Pawniard transforming into Bisharp, followed by its ultimate stage.
1. Remember that transforming Pawniard into Bisharp necessitates 50 Candy. Next, to acquire Kingambit, you need to collect another 100 Candy and overcome 15 Dark or Steel-type Pokemon in Raid battles while keeping Bisharp as your companion.
2. It’s important to know that turning Pawniard into Bisharp demands 50 Candy. Afterward, you need 100 more Candy to catch Kingambit and defeat 15 Dark or Steel-type Pokemon in Raid battles with Bisharp as your friend.
3. Be aware that evolving Pawniard into Bisharp requires 50 Candy. To capture Kingambit, you’ll need an additional 100 Candy and defeat 15 Dark or Steel-type Pokemon in Raid battles while keeping Bisharp as your buddy.
4. Remember that making Pawniard a Bisharp will cost you 50 Candy. To get Kingambit, you’ll need another 100 Candy and defeat 15 Dark or Steel-type Pokemon in Raid battles while having Bisharp as your buddy.
5. Note that turning Pawniard into Bisharp calls for 50 Candy. To obtain Kingambit, you must collect an additional 100 Candy and defeat 15 Dark or Steel-type Pokemon in Raid battles while keeping Bisharp by your side.
Pokemon debuts
The main focus of the upcoming event will be the introduction of Kingambit. But, you should know that Kingambit won’t be showing up all by himself – he’ll be accompanied by other Pokémon as well, including the Big Blade Pokemon.
Besides Kingambit, two new costumed creatures will appear:
- Nidoqueen wearing a crown*
- Nidoking wearing a crown*
Pokemon marked with an (*) can appear as Shiny.
Wild encounters
The following creatures will spawn more often in the wild during the Crown Clash event days:
- Slowpoke*
- Slakoth*
- Piplup*
- Combee*
- Snivy*
- Litleo*
- Pawniard*
Raids
Here are the Pokemon that will take over Raids:
1-Star Raids
- Sneasel*
- Klink*
- Pawniard*
3-Star Raids
- Nidoqueen wearing a crown*
- Nidoking wearing a crown*
Event bonuses
These are the bonuses trainers will be able to enjoy during the Crown Clash event:
- x2 XP for evolving Pokemon.
- Increased chance to encounter Shiny Nidoqueen wearing a crown, Shiny Nidoking wearing a crown, Shiny Slowpoke, Shiny Combee, and Shiny Litleo.
- Catching Slowpoke may award a King’s Rock.
Field Research task rewards
During Kingambit’s festival, you’ll find task challenges themed around events. Successfully completing these tasks will earn you beneficial rewards, such as opportunities for unique encounters with Pokémon related to the event theme.
Collection Challenge
At the Crown Clash tournament, various Collection Challenges themed around the event will be accessible to all trainers. Completing these Catch and Evolution-oriented Collection Challenges will reward trainers with Experience Points (XP), Stardust, and an opportunity to encounter Pawniard.
Furthermore, trainers reaching Level 31 or above are rewarded with a single guaranteed Candy XL upon evolution of a Pokémon after successfully completing the Collection Challenge.
PokeStop Showcases
Just like many other events, PokeStop Showcases will occur at various PokeStops. Keep an eye out for these locations to participate in competitions tailored to the event theme, and collect additional rewards as a result.
Pokemon Go Web Store
The Pokemon Go Web Store will have incredible deals during the Crown Clash celebration.
Additionally, trainers receive a reduced price of 15% off their initial online shop purchase when they spend $9.99 or more (equivalent in your local currency).
Track Pokemon
Make sure to take advantage of the newly introduced “Pokemon Alert” function to pursue Pawniard and collect enough Candy for its complete evolution into Kingambit.
This function allows players to follow a particular wild animal, as they receive a notification when it approaches their location.
