A fresh installment for the sequel series has been announced, following closely on the heels of the reveal of a new intro and release date.
In the next installment of the King of the Hill series, we have a new voice actor stepping into the shoes of Dale Gribble, following the unfortunate passing of Johnny Hardwick in 2023. To fill this role, producers chose Toby Huss, a popular actor from within the show’s universe.
In the initial broadcast of the series, the voice artist portrayed various characters including Kahn Souphanousinphone and Cotton Hill, among others, across more than 160 episodes.
I was fortunate enough to have voiced a character in the original run of the show from 1997 to 2009. Even more so, I had the chance to record six episodes for the upcoming revival before my passing. Beyond that, I also contributed as a writer and served as a story editor throughout the production of 258 episodes spanning over 13 seasons.
On May 30th at the ATX TV Festival, it was revealed who will be voicing the new King of the Hill character. The show’s creative team gathered for a special event that combined a reunion and revival panel discussion. In attendance were co-creators and executive producers Mike Judge and Greg Daniels, executive producer/showrunner Saladin Patterson, as well as series stars Pamela Adlon (portraying Bobby Hill), Lauren Tom (Connie), and Huss.
In terms of the revival series, Dale continues to harbor a deep-seated skepticism, with his theories veering towards the extravagant and unproven.
Huss has also worked on shows like Seinfeld, Halt and Catch Fire, and more recently, as well as films such as Blonde (2022), Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, and Nutcrackers (2024).
