At San Diego Comic-Con, Hulu is recreating the town of Arlen from King of the Hill in an immersive way, featuring Hank Hill’s backyard without any actual propane tanks or related items on display.
From July 24 onwards, located outside the San Diego Comic-Con Convention Center, fans will have an opportunity to step into a temporary setup reminiscent of Arlen, Texas. This is to commemorate the show’s eagerly awaited revival featuring characters who have aged since the series concluded originally.
As a die-hard fan, let me share with you an exciting experience – this event showcases iconic landmarks and immersive activities straight out of my cherished animated series! It truly promises an enjoyable time, except for the absence of those sweet-smelling propane tanks, of course.
SDCC gets a real-life King of the Hill event
At the gathering named “Hank Hill’s Backyard,” attendees will have the chance to snap photos alongside 2D depictions of the Hill family on their front lawn, ride the Hill family lawnmower, and enjoy a simulated drive around Arlen.
At Mega Lo Mart, I’m thrilled to find an opportunity to personalize my trucker hats with exclusive King of the Hill patches, specifically designed for this event. Plus, who wouldn’t love a Water Tower station doling out icy cold Alamo-labeled water cans? It’s a must-have collectible for devoted fans like me.
Absolutely, you’ll find a barbecue station in the backyard, offering Texas-style food throughout the day. However, it’s important to note that there won’t be a propane grill available on location. Instead, a large screen setup will play clips from both the original series and its upcoming reboot.
It’s unclear why a ban on propane was implemented, but considering the devastating incident at Mega Lo Mart in Season 2, it seems prudent to err on the side of caution.
For those not going to SDCC, there’s still something to celebrate: the revival will coincide with the release of a King of the Hill-themed beer from Alamo Beer Company! Partnering with Hulu, Alamo Beer Company in San Antonio is brewing a special edition beer that resembles the one the characters drink in the show’s alley.
The popular TV show “King of the Hill” is coming back on Hulu on August 4th, where you can watch all 10 episodes simultaneously.
