The developers behind “The King of Meat” game have shared some intriguing sources of inspiration for their vibrant multiplayer platformer and discussed their post-release strategies.
Titled “King of Meat,” this forthcoming cooperative hack-and-slash game hails from Glowmade and Amazon Studios. The game transports you and your team into a brutal game show arena, where you navigate treacherous dungeons teeming with adversaries and hazards to ultimately claim the title of victor.
In an interview with TopMob, studio co-founder Johnny Hopper discussed some lesser-known sources of inspiration for the game that aren’t as similar to Fall Guys’ brutal style.

During a chat with TopMob, co-founder Johnny Hopper from the studio shared some less conspicuous factors that have influenced the game, distinct from its brutish resemblance to Fall Guys.
King of Meat takes influence from iconic David Bowie movie
For the past five years, we’ve been developing this game. When considering its design, our approach was simple: ‘Let’s create something that appeals to what we ourselves enjoy playing.’ – Hopper elaborated.
The concept originated from there. It’s a cooperative game, but it carries an influence from WrestleMania. Our Art Director, Adam, is genuinely enamored with the movie Labyrinth. So, we started wondering, ‘What if a game combined those elements?’ And that’s how we eventually arrived at our current creation.
As a gamer, I can’t help but notice the hints of Labyrinth woven into the fantastical attire found in King of Meat. It doesn’t take much time to spot the influences from WWE in the grandiose game show presentation style, either.
The team is confident that the interesting blend of influences will attract players initially, and they’ve thought ahead about strategies to maintain community involvement for an extended period.
He mentioned that our plan for the next year is filled with exciting tasks. These tasks range from enhancing your character’s appearance, designing new dungeons, creating various items, developing unique emotes, and introducing new features.
One fantastic aspect of this game lies in its ability to create a strong, engaging community. By understanding their preferences – what they enjoy or feel is lacking within the game – we can tailor our updates to cater to their desires, ensuring a satisfying gaming experience.
Not only does the game offer an abundance of pre-made content, but it also empowers players with the freedom to craft their very own dungeons, thereby enriching the game’s lifespan.
The upcoming game, King of Meat, doesn’t have a specific launch date yet, but we expect it to be available towards the end of 2025 across platforms such as PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Nintendo Switch.
