Killing of Palestinian Girl Hind Rajab Being Made Into Film by Kaouther Ben Hania, ‘Zone of Interest’ Producer James Wilson, ‘Navalny’ Producer Odessa Rae and Film4 (EXCLUSIVE)

Five-year-old Palestinian girl Hind Rajab, who tragically perished after her car was attacked by Israeli forces in Gaza on January 29, 2024, and was subsequently discovered lifeless, is now being turned into a dramatic production by Tunisian filmmaker Kaouther Ben Hania, as EbMaster has uncovered.

An unassuming film production, set in a Tunisian location that mirrors rebuilt Gaza following conflict, is being developed by Nadim Cheikhrouha (“Four Daughters”) together with Academy Award winners Odessa Rae (“Navalny”) and James Wilson (“The Zone of Interest”). The project, presently referred to as “Untitled Kaouther Ben Hania Film,” receives support from Film4.

A low-key movie, filmed in a Tunisian site replicating post-conflict Gaza, is being made by Nadim Cheikhrouha (“Four Daughters”) along with Academy Award recipients Odessa Rae (“Navalny”) and James Wilson (“The Zone of Interest”). The film is called “Untitled Kaouther Ben Hania Project” at the moment. Film4 funds this project.)

Among the countless innocent lives lost during the Israeli military operation that followed the Hamas attacks in Gaza on October 7, 2023, was Rajab’s. His death ignited global outrage, and as a passionate supporter, I feel compelled to share that student protesters at Columbia University chose to rename certain buildings in tribute to this tragic victim.

In the midst of their escape from Gaza City, Rajab and her family’s vehicle was struck by shellfire, resulting in the tragic loss of her uncle, aunt, and three cousins. For hours, Rajab remained trapped within the vehicle while she communicated with the Palestinian Red Cross Society on the phone, hoping for rescue. Tragically, it wasn’t until February 10th, following an Israeli withdrawal, that rescuers finally reached the car, only to discover both Rajab and the paramedics had already passed away.

I personally stand by the findings of investigations conducted by The Washington Post and Sky News. Utilizing satellite imagery and tangible proof, they determined that a number of Israeli tanks were present at the scene and one is suspected to have fired 335 rounds towards the car Rajab and her family were traveling in. Furthermore, their investigation suggests that an Israeli tank might have targeted the ambulance sent to aid Rajab as well, according to Forensic Architecture’s analysis.

One notable movie director from the Middle East, Ben Hania, has garnered significant acclaim. His most recognized works include “Beauty and the Dogs” (2017), which represented Tunisia in the Academy Awards, the 2020 film “The Man Who Sold His Skin,” which was a contender for the best international feature film Oscar, and his upcoming documentary “Four Daughters” (2024), which has been nominated for the best documentary feature Oscar.
