As a dedicated follower of the VTuber community and someone who has witnessed the tumultuous journey they’ve taken on various streaming platforms, I find myself drawn to Kick’s recent moves. The VTuber community, much like a beloved virtual pet, requires a nurturing environment where they can thrive and express themselves freely.
Kick is now introducing a greater number of VTuber-focused updates to its live streaming service, aiming to entice broadcasters in response to Twitch‘s ongoing dispute over rules.
VTubers expressed their anger following Twitch’s modification of its dress code policy on October 7, which now mandates that virtual characters must be completely clothed. It appears that Kick may try to exploit this circumstance by introducing fresh attributes.
On October 11th, the platform shared via its Twitter/X account the unveiling of a 3D Kick hat asset tailored for streamers to incorporate on their models. In a casual tone, they expressed, “We’re fond of VTUBERS… that’s all,” hinting at more updates on the horizon.
we just released a Kick hat asset for… *cough*
…VTUBERS
yes we like VTUBERS…
just saying… 👀

On October 9th, Aurora Phoenyx revealed that she was the initial virtual YouTuber to be signed by Kick, expressing gratitude towards the platform after a conversation with Kick’s CEO, Eddie Craven.
Speaking as a fellow enthusiast, I want to reach out to you Kick VTubers who are currently facing harassment from Twitch and Twitter users. Keep your spirits high, my friends! You’ve had the courage to stand up for yourself and your communities, and that’s something truly admirable. The Kick community embraces VTubers like us, and we stand with you in solidarity and support.
KICK aims to offer a fitting platform/marketplace that empowers Creators to contribute more to their communities. We highly regard our VTuber community. Here is a conversation between Aurora_Phoenyx and KICK CEO, StakeEddie, discussing the current state of VTubing.

Santamaria, an employee at Kick and participant in the call, responded, stating, “Kick aims to offer a pertinent platform or marketplace that empowers Creators, enabling them to contribute even more to their respective communities. We highly regard our VTuber community.
On October 10th, Twitch faced additional criticism when creator Chromuchromu was temporarily banned, supposedly for violating platform policies during their birthday celebration, leaving them puzzled by the action.
Nevertheless, although there’s been discontent within the VTuber community on Twitch due to recent rule modifications, VTubers have persisted and shown no indications of waning popularity on the platform.
On September 26th, Ironmouse surpassed the previous Twitch subscriber record set by Kai Cenat, amassing more than 311,000 subscriptions during her subathon stream.
