In simpler terms, after Twitch made adjustments to its ban system through an update, the streaming service Kick has admitted accountability for these changes.
In February 2025, Twitch made changes to their ban policies with the aim of reducing the number of permanent bans given to content creators.
Initially, there were no time-limited penalties for repeated minor offenses by streamers throughout their careers. Instead, they risked being indefinitely suspended.
Now, let’s introduce a more engaging way: In the old days, if a streamer accumulated multiple small mistakes during their career, they could face an indefinite ban. But now, time-limited penalties have been introduced.
After this, Twitch declared that repeat offenders who consistently break the same community guidelines will face increasingly severe penalties.
In the future, the Amazon-owned platform plans to provide a clearer explanation to streamers who have been suspended, including specific examples of where a rule was broken, based on video clips.
As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but share that Kick attributes the recent improvements to transparency primarily to their robust internal moderation system.
Kick takes responsibility for Twitch’s upgraded ban features
On X’s post, it was stated by Andrew Santamaria, who heads strategic partnerships at Kick, that the moderation system on the green platform may have caused Twitch to make its recent alterations.
He excitedly declared, “Kick’s mod system has compelled platforms to make adjustments yet another time!” He explained, “Users who have been verified receive warnings before a ban from Kick. These warnings come via email and contain recordings, images, and a clear explanation of the infraction. However, extreme cases that necessitate immediate action do not prompt warnings.
KICK’s modifying system has compelled platforms to readjust once more! 💅
Users confirmed by KICK receive alerts prior to a ban, and these emails contain recordings, images, and an explanation of the infraction.
Alerts are not issued for severe instances that demand immediate resolution.

In another tweet, he clarified that the team intends to extend the cautionary messages to all content creators, not just the verified ones.
In my enthusiastic perspective, I’d like to share that our ultimate goal, as discussed in past KICK Talks, is to extend the safety measures we offer, including warnings, to every Creator on our platform as we continue to grow and expand. Plus, did you know? We’re the only platform offering 24/7 live chat support! 🎧🗣️

On its debut, the platform owned by Stake operated with more relaxed guidelines compared to platforms like Twitch and YouTube. However, over time, Kick has become stricter in its policies and has even imposed permanent bans on certain users.

Pirate Software responds after Asmongold stream sparks backlash
Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel, a popular streamer who recently secured a $100M deal with Kick, has been vocal about his efforts to encourage the platform to take stronger action against potentially harmful content.
Here’s an example of a more conversational rephrasing:
For example, Jack Doherty was temporarily removed from Kick due to him crashing his McLaren while he was on the phone, and Fousey was barred by the broadcaster after making threats that suggested he might harm himself.
In the ongoing battle between streaming platforms, it’s evident that they are mutually profiting, as each platform strives to outdo the other by introducing fresh features and refining user experiences.
