Khaby Lame ‘voluntarily deported’ for overstaying visa in the US

TikTok sensation Khaby Lame left the U.S., specifically Las Vegas, following his own decision, since he had exceeded the allowed 30 days of his visitor visa.

On June 6, unverified reports on social media suggested that popular TikTok personality Khaby Lame was taken into custody by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Multiple accounts shared that Lame was being kept at the Henderson Detention Center in Nevada, claiming to have obtained screenshots from ICE’s online system for tracking detainees. However, these claims remain unconfirmed.

Since then, a representative from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency has verified that Lame was held at Harry Reid Airport in Las Vegas on June 6. This was because he had exceeded the validity of his visa.

The Senegalese-Italian social media personality touched down in the USA on April 30, and attended the Met Gala on May 5. It was reported by Newsweek and Complex that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) granted him voluntary departure on June 6, and since then, he has left the US.

It’s been verified that Khaby Lame was apprehended by ICE in Las Vegas, as he had overstayed his visa. After being given the option to leave voluntarily, Lame has already exited the United States, according to officials.

Khaby Lame posts TikTok after ‘voluntary deportation’

Contrary to some reports suggesting Lame’s name was visible on ICE’s list of detainees, a check on June 7 revealed no such listing. If he was there before, his record seems to have been expunged or removed.

On June 7th, the popular TikToker shared an Instagram Story featuring what seemed like Venice Beach in Los Angeles, California as the backdrop. However, due to their fleeting nature, such posts don’t last long and this one has since been removed after 24 hours.

On June 7th, his TikTok profile shared an ad for Kellogg’s, sparking comments from viewers speculating about his release from authority. Yet, some pointed out that it could have just been a pre-scheduled post.

Regularly visiting the United States for various functions, Lame, who assumed the role of UNICEF’s ambassador in January, is a frequent guest.

It’s worth mentioning that he attended the Met Gala in May, showed up during the NBA All-Star weekend in February, and often visits Formula 1 events.

There have been demonstrations in the U.S. due to increased detainments by ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) of individuals who possess valid documents, creating fear of expulsion among many.
