Keshet International (KI) has obtained two extra advance sales for the forthcoming “Seven Wonders of the Ancient World,” a three-part high-end historical docuseries jointly developed with SandStone Global. Before its premiere at the London TV Screenings, the series has already been sold in advance to the Australian public broadcaster SBS and France’s TF1’s Histoire TV channel. This follows Channel Five’s collaboration for the U.K. release.
Kelly Wright, KI’s Distribution Manager, expressed her excitement about the show, stating, “We are excited to have secured three broadcast partners before even revealing our captivating ancient history series at the London TV Screenings. ‘The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World’ is the highlight of our factual lineup this Spring, and we are pleased that Professor Bettany Hughes will be present to help us showcase this treasure to potential international buyers at our screening event on February 26.
Created by factual specialists SandStone Global and hosted by renowned scholar Professor Bettany Hughes, this series is adapted from her bestselling book with the same title, which has been on The Times’ Bestseller List since October 2024 and has been translated into ten languages. The documentary series chronicles Hughes’ expedition to uncover the Seven Wonders, seamlessly combining archaeological knowledge, recent discoveries, and advanced technology. Notable locations like the Great Pyramid of Giza and the Statue of Zeus are showcased, offering exclusive glimpses into digital reconstructions and expert interpretations.
This TV show, overseen by director David Lee and the executive team consisting of Hughes, Dixi Stewart, and Ruth Sessions, was shot on three different continents – Turkey, Greece, and Egypt. The first public airing is planned for Channel 5 in the second quarter of 2025.
Prior to the premiere of the show at London TV Screenings, Professor Bettany Hughes disclosed, “With unprecedented access to fresh excavations and findings, this series will guide us along the paths traversed by ancient travelers, soldiers, pilgrims, saints, and emperors who marveled at these colossal wonders. These magnificent structures, some of the most impressive feats ever constructed by human hands, were built with an incredible amount of labor, a fact that my team and I have uncovered after years of research spanning three continents – through deserts, mountains, and across the high seas. We are now ready to unveil not only the tremendous effort required to build the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World but also what these breathtaking creations meant to people in the past and why they continue to captivate us today.
On February 26, 2025, KI will present the unscripted event “Dinner with Gavin Rossdale” among its lineup.
