Six more actors have been announced as recurring guests for the upcoming mystery-comedy series “The ‘Burbs,” on Peacock, starring Keke Palmer.
Actors Haley Joel Osment, RJ Cyler, Justin Kirk, Kyrie McAlpin, Danielle Kennedy, and Randy Oglesby have been added to the cast that was previously announced, which includes Palmer, Jack Whitehall, Julia Duffy, Paula Pell, Mark Proksch, and Kapil Talwalkar. In their respective roles, Osment is known for films such as “Blink Twice” and “The Sixth Sense”, Cyler for “The Harder They Fall” and “Me and Earl and the Dying Girl”, Kirk for “Angels in America” and “Weeds”, McAlpin for “Cheaper by the Dozen” and “Will Trent”, Kennedy for “Man on the Inside” and “Narcos”, and Oglesby for “For All Mankind” and “Star Trek”.
The TV show ‘The ‘Burbs’ is based on the 1989 film with the same title. According to its synopsis, the series takes place in modern times and focuses on a young couple who have been forced to return to the husband’s childhood home. Their peaceful existence is disrupted when a mysterious new neighbor moves in next door, unearthing long-buried secrets of the cul-de-sac and unleashing dangerous threats that shatter the tranquility of their seemingly idyllic neighborhood.
This television series is penned by Celeste Hughey and Rachel Shukert, with both of them taking on executive producer roles alongside Palmer; Nzingha Stewart is set to direct the opening episode; Brian Grazer, who previously produced the 1989 movie, is also involved; while Kristen Zolner and Natalie Berkus represent Imagine Entertainment, as does Seth MacFarlane, Erica Huggins, and Aimee Carlson from Fuzzy Door. Notably, Fuzzy Door has an ongoing contract with Universal Content Productions, the very studio producing this series. Dana Olsen, the original film’s writer, will act as co-executive producer. Interestingly, the series will be filmed on the Universal Studios backlot in Los Angeles, just like the movie was.
