As a longtime fan who has witnessed the evolution of video game characters from pixels to photorealism, I can hardly contain my excitement! Keanu Reeves lending his voice to Shadow the Hedgehog is like a dream come true, and not just because he’s an iconic actor, but because Shadow has always been one of my favorite Sonic sidekicks.
Toward the close of December, Keanu Reeves is set to provide his voice for Shadow the Hedgehog in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 on the big screen. However, it was recently unveiled during Sony’s State of Play that Reeves will also voice Shadow earlier in December, this time as part of a DLC launch for Sonic x Shadow Generations.
During State of Play, just a snippet of the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Movie Pack DLC was unveiled, and it appeared that Reeves’ Shadow character had been transported straight to Tokyo – one of the movie’s locations.

During a conversation with PlayStation Blog, Shun Nakamura pointed out that the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Movie pack is not connected to the storyline of Shadow Generations. Instead, he referred to it as “additional material,” but emphasized that the control system for Shadow will remain consistent with the primary game.
Nakamura noted that since our development team resides in Tokyo, we aimed to create an enjoyable Sonic game experience while still showcasing the city’s unique charm. To do this, we ventured out into the game’s actual location for inspiration. We’re thrilled about the opportunity to let you play as Shadow within a real-life city, so keep an eye out for it!
The collaboration game between Sonic and Shadow titled “Sonic x Shadow Generations” is scheduled to arrive on every console and PC on October 25th. Additionally, the “Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Movie Pack” will be launched on December 12th. Notably, the DLC for this game can also be obtained with the “Sonic x Shadow Generations Digital Deluxe Edition.
