It’s undeniable that the enthusiasts of Star Wars can be a bit contentious at times. Yet, they have significantly impacted pop culture ever since George Lucas released his groundbreaking 1977 film, which revolutionized science fiction cinema. Despite its occasional divisiveness, there is one individual who only sees positivity in it all: Katee Sackhoff from The Mandalorian.
In a chat with George Edelman of MovieWeb, the topic naturally drifted towards her new action-comedy ‘Fight or Flight’ starring Josh Hartnett. Sackhoff’s association with Star Wars wasn’t new, given her role on Battlestar Galactica as Kara “Starbuck” Thrace and her portrayal of Bo-Katan Kryze in the animated series The Clone Wars, Rebels, and the live-action version in The Mandalorian. Sackhoff admires the Star Wars fanbase for providing an avenue for people to ‘escape’ from their daily routines.
I’m really fond of this community. To me, any opportunity for escape from the monotony of daily life – something that stirs our senses and awakens creativity – is incredibly vital to our humanity. That’s why I adore it so much.
Will Bo-Katan Return in ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’ Next Year?
Previously, Katee Sackhoff made an appearance in the Star Wars universe by voicing Bo-Katan, but since then she hasn’t physically appeared in any episodes following The Mandalorian Season 3’s final episode “Chapter 24: The Return.” In that episode, we witnessed Bo-Katan, Grogu, and Din Djarin collaborating to defeat Moff Gideon and his Praetorian Guards, bringing the storyline to a satisfying conclusion.
Ever since the rumors started swirling about my potential return for the upcoming “The Mandalorian and Grogu” movie, I’ve been keeping tight-lipped. When asked point-blank if I’d be making an appearance in the next “Star Wars” film, I played coy with you all. After all, in a galaxy far, far away, one should never rule out anything entirely.
“I can promise you that you haven’t seen the last of Bo Katan, but that’s about all I can say.”
Although it’s uncertain if Sackhoff will don the costume of Bo-Katan again next season, at least we know that The Mandalorian and Grogu will bring Pedro Pascal back to the franchise. Not only will he reappear as Djarin, but the movie will also introduce new faces like Sigourney Weaver playing a veteran pilot for the Rebel Alliance, and Jeremy Allen White portraying Jabba’s son, Rotta the Hutt. In other developments, Jonny Coyne will resume his character from the Disney+ series as an Imperial Warlord, and the film will also feature Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios in live-action for the first time, a character we’ve previously only seen in animated form in Star Wars Rebels.
Keep an eye out for the potential return of Katee Sackhoff as Bo-Katan Kryze when The Mandalorian and Grogu hit cinemas on May 22, 2026. In the meantime, don’t miss her this weekend in Fight or Flight, premiering nationwide on May 9 from Vertical Entertainment. If you’d like to revisit all three seasons of The Mandalorian, they are currently streaming on Disney+.
