As a seasoned movie critic with a soft spot for romantic comedies, I can’t help but feel a pang of nostalgia at the news of potential sequel talks for “How to Lose A Guy in 10 Days.” This iconic film, released way back in 2003, holds a special place in my heart. You see, it was one of those movies I watched during my early twenties, when every romantic comedy seemed like a potential blueprint for my own love life. Kate Hudson’s character, Andie Anderson, and Matthew McConaughey’s Ben Berry were the epitome of charming and witty banter, and their journey to finding love in 10 days was both hilarious and heartwarming.
Writers all over are polishing up their ideas and creating pitches; Kate Hudson recently expressed on “Watch What Happens Live” with Andy Cohen that she and Matthew McConaughey are both open to a sequel of “How to Lose A Guy in 10 Days,” provided they’re both interested in the new storyline. Hudson shared, “The only thing that matters is the script, and if Matthew and I like it. We’re both open to it, but nothing has materialized yet.” In 2019, Quibi and Paramount gave the green light for a remake of the romantic comedy from Guy Branum, but it never came together. Perhaps Hudson will encounter a fortune teller soon to help move things forward.
