The level of immersion and the sheer believability of the situation were so high, it made me question the very fabric of my own digital world!
Streamer Jynxzi was tricked on a spin-off of the well-known prank show, “Punk’d,” by his colleague Sketch, who orchestrated an intricate practical joke while they were both streaming live.
In the month of August 2024, Jynxzi and Sketch were broadcasting their stream live on Twitch, when an unexpected loud noise originated from somewhere outside the camera’s view.
Alarmed by the situation, both broadcasters rose from their seats and decided to investigate. They contacted the police, informing them that a window cleaner, stuck outside Jynxzi’s 11th-floor apartment due to a problem with his lifting equipment, was frantically tapping on the glass for assistance.
The flow of their broadcast stopped not long after, and neither of the social media personalities spoke out about it in public. Nonetheless, a communication from one of Jynxzi’s Twitch moderators suggested that the pair was safe, stating that “other matters were being dealt with by the police.
It seemed to most spectators like the window cleaner had come close to a life-threatening incident during the live broadcast… however, it turns out that the entire situation was just a practical joke.
In an email recently sent to TopMob, it was revealed that ‘Punk You,’ a freshly minted online prank series created by Jason Goldberg, the co-creator of Punk’d, will be releasing more episodes, with this one being just one of several upcoming installments.
The initial video was posted on YouTube as late as September 25, approximately a month following the window-cleaning mishap that Sketch helped arrange.
In the episode, an anxious Jynxzi tried to explain the situation happening outside his window to a supposed police operator, stating that the cleaner was clinging there for dear life.
Following an attempt to hoist him using a rope, the team informed him it was just a joke, causing him to collapse in laughter upon realizing this. The streamer appeared noticeably relieved and slumped down onto the floor.
To this very moment, that prank remains the most terrifying experience I’ve encountered, Jynxzi expressed in a press statement. “I can hardly trust anything now,” she added.
