Justin Wong shocked as MenaRD learns Daigo parry on first day of Street Fighter 3 training

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia and anticipation as I witness the upcoming showdown between the legendary Justin Wong and Street Fighter phenom MenaRD. The $10k money match on Street Fighter: Third Strike promises to be an electrifying event, with MenaRD aiming not just for victory, but to give Justin a taste of his own medicine – the infamous Daigo parry.

Legendary fighting game player Justin Wong and renowned Street Fighter expert MenaRD are scheduled for a $10k showdown in a match of Street Fighter: Third Strike. While Mena aims to secure victory, his ultimate goal is to recreate the iconic EVO 37 moment and force Wazzler to experience his most terrifying memory once again.

Despite having claimed numerous EVO championships and continuing to win tournaments more than two decades after, Johnathan “JWong” Wendel’s most notorious moment remains his loss to Daigo, although coming very close with the resurgence of the ‘Wazzler’ following the return of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is a strong contender for second place in terms of memorable moments.

In the Street Fighter: Third Strike competition, MenaRD intends to do more than simply emerge victorious. His goal is to defeat Justin in a manner reminiscent of Daigo – by executing a flawless counterattack.

And the first thing he practices Day 1 is the full parry? Bruh

Mena is preparing for that crucial instant by typing out Chun Li’s advanced move sequence on his keyboard, then swiftly switching over to his controller to deflect it.

In Street Fighter: Third Strike, unlike future games such as Tekken 8, there’s no fancy training mode that allows me to record and repeat moves at will. Instead, I have to painstakingly practice each move manually by repeating the input sequence again and again, a process known as MenaRD’s method.

If they’re genuinely staking $10k, as they mentioned in their PlayStation Face Off, then the effort put into training would certainly prove to be worthwhile.

To put it simply, success in Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike requires more than just flashy moves like the Daigo parry. If MenaRD aspires to defeat JWong, he’ll need to spend a significant amount of time learning from JWong’s years of accumulated wisdom and experience.

Even though Justin continues to triumph in tournaments globally, being close to 40 years old, mastering one technique doesn’t automatically guarantee him victory. To date, MenaRD has claimed some of the most prestigious titles in SF6; however, Street Fighter Third Strike is a game with distinct characteristics compared to it.
