Justin Baldoni and His Current Publicist Sue His Former Publicist

Today’s late afternoon, the sun’s shining brightly, and the weekend promises relaxation and enjoyment. All things considered, this week has been relatively calm, with no unexpected complications from the ongoing legal disputes related to “It Ends With Us.” However, there’s a new twist: Justin Baldoni and Jennifer Abel, his current publicist, are filing a lawsuit against his former publicist Stephanie Jones. To add to the mix, they’re also embroiled in litigation with Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, and the New York Times. One has to wonder if these parties have exhausted all potential lawsuits by now. This legal battle has been ongoing for almost three months, so one might ask, what more could another lawsuit possibly achieve?

According to Variety, Baldoni focused on Jones, a former employee at his law firm, as his target. Bryan Freedman, Baldoni’s lawyer, asserted that she disclosed confidential correspondence to Leslie Sloane, Lively’s PR representative. During last summer’s premiere of “It Ends With Us”, Jones and Abel were working together at Jonesworks, where they were collaborating for Baldoni’s benefit. Abel informed Jones in August 2024 that she was starting her own company, which Baldoni’s recent lawsuit suggests led Jones to betray him. Upon Abel leaving the firm, Jonesworks demanded she hand over all her computer data. The complaint alleges that Jones knew this action would cause damage not only to Abel but also to her clients, Wayfarer, and Baldoni, as she passed on these materials to Lively.

Baldoni’s team initially hired Jones and Abel. Later, they dismissed Jones. However, after being terminated, Jones provided confidential texts to Sloane, who then shared them with Lively and the Times. This raises the question of how many lawsuits it will take before everyone involved is satisfied. To err on the side of caution, another lawsuit might be necessary.
