Jurassic World Rebirth’s New Composer Has Shocking Star Wars Connection Fans Will Love!

I’m still surprised that the 2025 movie schedule will indeed bring the seventh Jurassic film to cinemas. With the July release date for Jurassic World Rebirth already confirmed, fans are now left wondering various things, such as “Who will compose the music for this new installment of prehistoric chaos?

In my perspective as a movie enthusiast, let me share an intriguing insight I’ve gathered: It turns out that the solution we’ve been waiting for regarding certain aspects of the film, might take some by surprise. Interestingly enough, it seems that Gareth Edwards’ prior connections to the Star Wars universe could have paved the way for this unique musical choice.

Alexandre Desplat Is Jurassic World Rebirth’s Composer

In the tradition of legendary composer John Williams, Don Davis (from Jurassic Park III) and Michael Giacchino (Jurassic World), it’s Alexandre Desplat who has been announced as the next gifted musician to take on the mantle. This news was shared in a video that showcases his work for the upcoming film, Rebirth, giving you a taste of his compositions below:

Regarding film score aficionados, the fact that the Academy Award-winning composer who scored “Paddington 2,” as well as several films for both Guillermo del Toro and Wes Anderson, Mr. Desplat’s hiring is a clear indication of good taste. Hearing him discuss his thoughts on John Williams’ “Jurassic Park” score, and how it fits into “Jurassic World Rebirth,” demonstrates that this was an excellent choice. However, in the realm of that distant galaxy, Alexandre Desplat’s reunion with his “Godzilla” director was something that was supposed to occur not too long ago.

Rogue One’s Ties Deeper Into The Jurassic Franchise Have Just Grown Deeper

In 2015, when it became clear that John Williams wouldn’t compose the score for the first of the two Star Wars Stories to hit theaters, Michael Giacchino was brought on board to score Rogue One. However, the journey to its eventual release in 2016 was a complex one, marked by numerous turns and twists, much like the reshoots directed by Tony Gilroy, who extensively revised the film for its release.

The additional filming for “Rogue One” not only resulted in some trailer scenes being permanently lost, but it also forced Alexandre Desplat to leave the project. His spot was then filled by composer Michael Giacchino. This change became crucial for the completion of the “Star Wars” prequel, as Giacchino had already agreed to a long-term role in the “Jurassic World” series of movies.

Similar to Maestro Giacchino, Mr. Desplat’s composition seems to beautifully honor John Williams’ music from Jurassic Park, particularly the ominous string notes in the video you see above. What captures my attention right now is the question of how much of The Lost World: Jurassic Park’s jungle-themed soundtrack will be incorporated into his work.

In essence, “Jurassic World Rebirth” is set to take us on a journey to Isla Sorna, the primary location from the 1997 sequel. Why not rekindle some of the enchantment that you’re about to experience with this return trip?

As a film enthusiast, I can’t help but notice the strong musical bond between my current viewing and 2015’s Jurassic World, a connection that Michael Giacchino skillfully weaves in his compositions. If you find yourself revisiting the Indominus Rex fight in the third act, keep an ear out for the melodious introduction of Blue – it’s a subtle touch that I believe adds depth to your viewing experience. Enjoy!

As a film enthusiast with a keen ear for movie scores, I’ve long admired the iconic work of John Williams. However, it seems that Alexandre Desplat is poised to demonstrate his own mastery of this musical genre. While it may be premature to make such claims, I feel confident enough to predict that the soundtrack for “Jurassic World: Dominion” will undoubtedly find its way onto my personal playlist, joining the ranks of other timeless scores.

If you happen to overhear someone making a fuss in the tri-state region around July 2nd, it’s likely me getting excited, possibly meeting a favorite celebrity. Alternatively, it might be that I’m encountering a Tyrannosaurus Rex and joyfully accepting my imminent fate.
