Junglee Pictures Unveils Gritty Cop Drama ‘Night Patrol’ in Malayalam Debut!

In a new venture, the prominent Hindi production company Junglee Pictures is stepping into Malayalam cinema for the first time with “Ronth” (“Night Patrol”), a hard-hitting police story directed by acclaimed movie maker Shahi Kabir who has received awards in the film industry.

The movie, now in post-production, features renowned actors Dileesh Pothan (from the Berlinale selection “Tiger’s Pond”) and Roshan Mathew (winner at Busan with “Paradise”). These two portray cops whose routine night patrol escalates into a cauldron of professional strife and personal disputes. The ensemble cast also includes Sudhi Koppa, Arun Cherukavil, Lakshmi Menon, Krisha Kurup, and Nandanunni.

Kabir, known for winning India’s National Film Award for best screenplay with the movie “Nayattu” (2021), infuses his unique style of social commentary and raw realism into his projects. His resume boasts writing for the recently released cop drama “Officer on Duty,” as well as the thrillers “Ela Veezha Poonchira” (2022), which he also directed, and “Joseph” (2018).

This film production is a joint venture between Festival Cinemas, and among the producers are Vineet Jain, Ratheesh Ambat, Ranjith E.V.M., and Jojo Jose, who work together with co-producer Amrita Pandey.

The team responsible for the technical aspects consists of cinematographer Mahesh Madhavan, musician Anil Johnson, and editor Praveen Mangalath. This movie is set to hit the big screen later in the current year.
