As a die-hard fan who has followed Oblivion Battery since its humble beginnings as a manga back in 2018, I couldn’t contain my excitement when I heard that our beloved baseball anime is coming back for another season! It’s been quite the roller coaster ride, watching these five friends inspire each other and their amnesiac teammate to bring home the win.

After some hesitation, it’s confirmed that the freshly released baseball anime, Oblivion Battery, will continue for another season this upcoming summer.

Ever since their debut in 2018, I’ve found myself drawn to Oblivion Battery. Over time, its appeal has expanded beyond just baseball enthusiasts, capturing the hearts of many. This year, my excitement reached new heights when the manga was adapted into a sports anime – and who could be the studio behind this masterpiece but MAPPA, the geniuses responsible for Jujutsu Kaisen!

Over the course of 12 episodes, the anime series didn’t generate a massive uproar, but it faced tough rivalry from Demon Slayer Season 4 and My Hero Academia Season 7, which were the main topics of discussion. Concluding in July 2024, we were left uncertain if there would be additional installments.

Fortunately, we can look forward to more episodes since Oblivion Battery Season 2 has been officially confirmed, ending our five-month long wait. As of now, additional details aren’t out yet, but just knowing that it’s happening is satisfying for the moment.

Eko Mikawa has crafted a tale focusing on a quintet of buddies who enjoy baseball as a team. Their goal is to reignite the passion for the sport in one of their friends, a past high school star player, who experiences amnesia. This novel approach to the underdog narrative, reminiscent of Haikyuu!!, incorporates everyday life aspects into the plotline.

The timing seems optimal for a surge, given that Haikuu!! is wrapping up with its final film, and Blue Lock Season 2 is amplifying its popularity even more. With shows centered around sports already gearing up to take over the Shonen genre as Demon Slayer, My Hero Academia, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Bleach reach their conclusion, this new addition only strengthens the team.

Go ahead and explore Oblivion Battery on Crunchyroll to discover why it’s a home run. Also, keep an eye out for our guides on Sakamoto Days, Solo Leveling Season 2, and Lazarus – all of which are upcoming releases you won’t want to miss!
