‘Jujutsu Kaisen’ Director Sunghoo Park’s Anime ‘Bullet/Bullet’ Heading to Disney+

After a ten-year period of creation, the director of “Jujutsu Kaisen,” Park Sunghoo, is preparing to launch “Bullet/Bullet,” an intense anime series that will premiere solely on Disney+.

In my perspective as a cinephile, I recently watched an exhilarating post-apocalyptic movie that offers a unique blend of action, mystery, and humor. The protagonist is Gear, a shrewd junk dealer who leads a dual life as a daring thief. This intriguing character forms an unlikely alliance with Qu-0213, a complex robot endowed with multiple personalities, and Shirokuma, a polar bear with a penchant for gambling. Together, they make quite the team of elite thieves-for-hire.

However, their lives take a dramatic turn when they stumble upon a mysterious girl, setting them on a collision course with their society’s powerful hierarchy. The film is a rollercoaster ride of emotions and suspense that keeps you at the edge of your seat until the very end. If you’re in search of an engaging post-apocalyptic adventure, this movie is definitely worth a watch!

The director of the award-winning original anime, Park (who won at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards), is helming this production from a script written by Aki Kindaichi, known for “Uma Musume: Cinderella Grey”. The character designs are under the supervision of chief animation director Takahiro Yoshimatsu, famous for “Future GPX Cyber Formula” and “Hunter x Hunter”, while Hidetaka Tenjin, recognized for his work on “Mobile Suit Gundam” and “Macross”, is responsible for the concept and mechanical designs.

As a film enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that Marina Inoue, famously known for her roles in “Attack on Titan” and “Smile PreCure!”, will be lending her voice to the protagonist Gear in our upcoming production. Additionally, Kazuhiro Yamaji, recognized for his work in “Psycho-Pass” and “One-Punch Man,” has been cast as Shirokuma. The talented Rie Kugimiya, who’s worked on “Gintama” and “Fullmetal Alchemist”, will voice Nosa-Nee, while Kana Hanazawa, known for her roles in the “Quintessential Quintuplets” and “Psycho-Pass,” will bring Kaw-Nee to life.

In this arrangement, the opening theme “Work Hard” is contributed by rapper Chanmina, and the closing theme “Glass Door” is provided by the Tokyo-based rock band, Newspeak.

Disney Plus is dividing the 16-episode series into two halves, releasing the first eight episodes on July 16 and the remaining eight episodes on August 13. This new series will be added to Disney+’s growing collection of APAC originals, which already includes “Tokyo Revengers,” “Murai in Love,” “Phoenix: Eden17,” “Medalist” and the live-action thriller “Gannibal.

Previously, Park was responsible for overseeing the first season of “Jujutsu Kaisen” and its movie adaptation, along with “The God of High School.” This upcoming series represents his first original anime creation in quite some time.
