One of my fellow actors has joined the roster for the potential comeback. Actress Judy Reyes is expressing interest in returning as character Carla Espinosa, hinting at numerous opportunities that may arise following a break of fifteen years.
Fans of Scrubs are eagerly anticipating Donald Faison’s return, as his co-star Judy Reyes has expressed interest in joining the revival series. She stated, “I can’t wait to find out what Carla is up to 25 years later!” With two out of four main characters now confirmed for a comeback, the question remains: will Faison reprise his role too? Reyes portrayed Carla Espinosa throughout the entire series run from 2001 to 2009. The character was instrumental in providing emotional depth during the show’s more challenging moments.
In the final episode of our beloved show, as I was saying goodbye to J.D., aka Zach Braff, I couldn’t help but reveal a touch of my own vulnerability. On his last day at Sacred Heart, he asked if there was anything he could do to repay me for all the kindness I’d shown him. In a mix of humor and sincerity, I questioned whether Chris (played by Donald Faison) loved me more than J.D., a question that reflected the depth of our friendship with him at times. But fear not, fans of Chris-Carla, the finale made it clear they were still going strong. Now, I’m eager to see where Elliot Reid picks up my story in the revival, delving deeper into the complexities of our lives after Sacred Heart.
Judy Reyes Shares Her Hopes For The Scrubs Reboot
She was pondering, “So, are they still married – she and Turk? Did J.D. end up with him instead of Carla? Have their kids grown? Do they have more children? Stuff like that. I’m curious to find out.” Faison mentioned that everyone is just as excited to rejoin the crew. “We all share the same desire,” he said, “We’d all love to work together again, but it’s quite challenging. It wouldn’t be a full season of a show – it would need to be a movie or something similar where you could dedicate a few months to it. Everyone is busy.
I find Carla and Turk incredibly authentic,” Reyes shared, looking back on their beloved couple. “What makes them so relatable is that their romance isn’t just about love declarations or romantic gestures; it’s in their quick wit, shared humor, arguments, resilience, and the fact they manage to stay together. I really admire that aspect of their relationship.” This stands in stark contrast to J.D.’s tumultuous relationship with Elliot (Sarah Chalke), which often provided much of the show’s comedic relief due to its toxic nature.
Bill Lawrence is eager to initiate the revival, attributing this to the strong fan support. In his words, “We’re going ahead because we’re fortunate enough for people to care,” he stated. From top to bottom, if you ever get an opportunity to collaborate with people you’d enjoy working with anyway, seize it… It’s valuable to me to see Neil [Flynn] back in that jumpsuit again.
Scrubs is streaming on Peacock, Hulu, and Disney+.
