The video posted on Twitter depicts Hartnett from beneath as he taps on his phone screen, with only part of his face visible. The caption in the video reads: “I’m advertising my movie before retreating from social media for another decade.” This promotional clip was uploaded to Fight or Flight’s Instagram account, which humorously commented: “When your crew is adamant about a social media content day to publicize your upcoming film (opening May 9), but you don’t partake in these viral trends.

In the action-comedy film titled “Fight or Flight“, produced by Basil Iwanyk and directed by James Madigan, with screenplay by Brooks McLaren and D.J. Cotrona, Hartnett takes on the role of Lucas Reyes – a former American mercenary who has been exiled and is now offered one last chance for redemption. His assignment: to locate and identify an elusive international target called The Ghost during a flight from Bangkok to San Francisco.

In Reyes’ assignment, he encounters added difficulties because other global assassins are also present, making the situation more complex as they need to work together in a mission where survival is at stake. The movie debuted on Sky Cinema in the UK on February 28th, and it’s set for U.S. release on May 9th.

Following its debut in the U.K., the movie “Fight or Flight” was highly appreciated by critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, it boasts a 92% approval rating. Critics particularly lauded Hartnett’s acting performance and the film’s heart-pounding action scenes.

Hartnett is Currently Filming a Highly Anticipated Romance Thriller

Hartnett’s reappearance on social media might not be sustained for too long, as his amusing video hinted at a ten-year hiatus from the internet. However, fans won’t have to wait that long to catch him on the big screen again. Currently, the actor is busy filming “Verity,” a psychological romance thriller adaptation of a bestselling novel.

Hartnett will star alongside Hartnett as author Verity Crawford’s character, Jeremy Crawford. The movie, titled “Lowen Ashleigh’s Predicament,” follows the story of struggling writer Lowen Ashleigh (Dakota Johnson), who receives a call from Jeremy when Verity is unable to complete her bestselling book series due to an unexplained incident. The film is scheduled for release on May 15, 2026, by Amazon MGM Studios / Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.

Fight or Flight will have a limited theatrical run in the United States beginning May 9.
