Peele is the director behind critically acclaimed movies like Get Out, Us, and Nope, and he also produced films including BlacKkKlansman, Candyman, Monkey Man, and Him.
According to recent reports, Jordan Peele may be taking on a Marvel movie. Marvel Studios is supposedly considering him to direct one of their upcoming superhero films.
The rumors have become so widespread that Jordan Peele’s production company, Monkeypaw Productions, responded to a post about them on X (formerly Twitter) from @cosmic_marvel with just a side-eye emoji.
People on X had a variety of responses to the post. Some felt Jordan Peele shouldn’t work with Marvel, while others brainstormed which Marvel movie he could direct. The most popular suggestion was the upcoming Blade reboot starring Mahershala Ali.
Monkeypaw has reacted to news stories with this emoji before. Just last December 1st, they used the same reaction when they saw the news that Jordan Peele was producing the movie Portrait of God alongside Sam Raimi.
While it’s not confirmed yet, rumors suggest Jordan Peele might direct a Marvel film. A recent post from his production company, Monkeypaw, featuring an eyes emoji, hints that there could be something to the speculation.
Peele could have easily cleared up the speculation with a direct statement, but his recent post on X hints that a big reveal is coming soon.
If the reports are accurate, this would mark Jordan Peele’s directorial debut for both Marvel and Disney. He’s previously directed and produced films released by Universal, Warner Bros., Focus Features, and Netflix, but never a project for Disney or Marvel.
He’s worked with Disney before, having lent his voice to characters in Toy Story 4 and The Bob’s Burgers Movie. He’s also made appearances on shows like The Muppets and Modern Family.
Taking on a Marvel superhero film would be a significant change for Peele, whose previous work has largely focused on horror and thrillers.
After Avengers: Secret Wars, Marvel Studios is planning several new movies. Many of these projects already have directors confirmed, including Ryan Coogler for Black Panther 3 and Jake Schreier for a new X-Men film.
Currently, the Marvel film Blade is facing uncertainty due to significant issues during its early stages of production. The film has gone through multiple director changes, with both Bassam Tariq and Yann Demange having been involved and then leaving the project.
Originally, the movie was scheduled to come out in 2023. However, it faced several delays, pushing the release date to 2025. Ultimately, Disney removed it from their release schedule altogether, though Mahershala Ali is still planned to star as Blade.
Though Jordan Peele hasn’t made a superhero movie yet, he’s well-known for his work in horror, and Blade definitely falls into that category.
If the rumors are true and Marvel is indeed looking to hire Jordan Peele, it’s highly probable he’s being considered to direct the Blade movie. For now, fans will have to wait for an official confirmation – if there is one – or keep an eye out for any clues from Monkeysaw’s social media.
