Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, Ashley Greene, Thomas Kretschmann, Praya Lundberg Join Anthony Hopkins Sci-Fi Thriller ‘Eyes in the Trees’

As a seasoned film enthusiast with a penchant for sci-fi and thrillers that push the boundaries of imagination, the announcement of “Eyes in the Trees” has sent a shiver down my spine. With a cast boasting heavyweights like Anthony Hopkins, Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, Ashley Greene, Thomas Kretschmann, and Praya Lundberg, this modern reimagining of H.G. Wells’ “The Island of Doctor Moreau” promises to be a rollercoaster ride that will keep me on the edge of my seat.

As a movie aficionado, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve joined the ranks with Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, Ashley Greene, Thomas Kretschmann, and Praya Lundberg in the cast of the highly anticipated “Eyes in the Trees,” starring the legendary Anthony Hopkins. The production company, Palisades Park Pictures, is gearing up for global distribution of this sci-fi thriller ahead of its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. I can hardly wait to see this masterpiece unfold on the big screen!

The movie, a contemporary adaptation of H.G. Wells’ novel “The Island of Doctor Moreau,” features two-time Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins from films like “The Father” and “Silence of the Lambs.” Additionally, it stars Golden Globe recipient Rupert Rhys Meyers known for “Michael Collins” and “Match Point,” David Greene recognized in “The Twilight Saga” and “Bombshell,” Mark Kretschmann famous from “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” and “King Kong,” and Alexandra Lundberg, who appeared in “White Lotus” Season 3.

“In ‘Eyes in the Trees’, a video journalist, Vince Henway (Meyers), and his team venture into an eerie forest with Channing Arneau (Greene), his former protege turned adversary. Their expedition becomes a desperate struggle for survival, not just for them, but humanity as a whole. They set sail to Monkey Ko, an island off the coast of Thailand, infamously known as ‘The Island of Death’ by locals. Legends tell of secretive government medical experiments and genetic manipulations conducted by Dr. Addis (Hopkins) on the island. Upon arrival, they uncover a horrifying truth that surpasses their darkest nightmares. The quest for answers soon morphs into a battle to prevent Dr. Addis from executing his chilling plan to ‘revert mankind’, which would wipe out most of Earth’s human population.”

The upcoming science fiction thriller is set to be helmed by Timothy Woodward Jr., a winner of the Emmy Award, known for “Studio City” and “Til Death Do Us Part”. B. Harrison Smith, writer of “Where the Scary Things Are”, Mike Manning from “Son of the South”, and Dominic Burns of “Airborne” are also involved in its scriptwriting.

The movie is set to be produced by Daemon Hillin from Hillin Entertainment (known for “Which Brings Me to You”), Simon Williams from Ashland Hill (famous for “The Magic Faraway Tree”), and Artisha Mann-Cooper of Artman Cooper Productions (“Tripped Up”). Additionally, Mike Manning will take on the role as a producer.

The team comprising Landon B. Gorman from BGG Capital, Joe Simpson, Jonathan Bross, and Tamara Birkemoe is slated as the executive producers. Meanwhile, Jonathan J. Cooper and Jeremy O’Keefe will collaborate on the production.

Director Woodward Jr. remarked, “It’s a privilege to collaborate closely with the legendary Sir Anthony Hopkins and the rest of this outstanding cast. This collaboration has been incredibly inspiring, and I am truly grateful for it. I can’t wait to unveil this movie to audiences, knowing that it’s being molded by such exceptional talents, both in front of and behind the camera.”

“‘Eyes in the Trees’ is an audacious, intricate film that falls under the elevated-genre category, boasting a superb ensemble cast led by none other than Anthony Hopkins,” said Simon Williams, Partner at Ashland Hill. “We eagerly anticipate sharing this suspenseful and imaginative retelling, as envisioned by Timothy, with audiences worldwide.”

The lineup for the TIFF screenings by Palisades Park Pictures additionally features: “The Enchanted Tree Far Away” starring Andrew Garfield, Claire Foy, Nicola Coughlan, Jessica Gunning, and Jennifer Saunders; “Grendel,” a live-action monster story from The Jim Henson Company, with an impressive cast including Jeff Bridges, Dave Bautista, Bryan Cranston, Thomasin McKenzie, Sam Elliott, T Bone Burnett; “That’s Amore!” starring John Travolta, Katherine Heigl, and Christopher Walken; and Philip Noyce’s action-adventure film “Fast Charlie” with Pierce Brosnan, as well as James Caan in his final on-screen performance.

Production for “Eyes In The Trees” is scheduled to begin in Thailand later this year.
