Following the finale of Invincible Season 3, it’s been confirmed that Thragg has been cast, with many fans suggesting a popular Walking Dead actor could be ideal for the villainous role, as per Robert Kirkman.
At the conclusion of Season 1, Invincible had introduced one of the greatest supervillains in history with Nolan Grayson, who is also known as Omni-Man. Yet, he has embarked on a path towards redemption, which necessitates the emergence of a new adversary to fill the antagonist role.
Among the top-notch villains in Invincible thus far, Angstrom Levy, Powerplex, and particularly Conquest are strong candidates. However, the most formidable antagonist yet, the one that truly sends shivers down your spine, is Thragg, the high-ranking ruler of the Viltrumite Empire. No worries about spoilers, but rest assured, you should be on edge.
Despite only being halfway through the narrative (the third season concluded at issue #65), if the series adheres to the source material, we might encounter Thragg as early as the finale of the fourth season.
Invincible fans want Jon Bernthal as Thragg
Fans are eagerly anticipating Jon Bernthal as a strong candidate for the role of Thragg in Invincible. This speculation arises following Robert Kirkman’s confirmation that the character had already been cast (while not explicitly stating his appearance in Season 4, the possibility appears promising).
In simpler terms, he expressed to Variety that it would be quite unusual if the actor didn’t appear in the series. However, he admitted his uncertainty about the situation. To put it straight, he confirmed that the actor has been chosen for the role and is exceptional.

Who do we know is portraying Thagg? At this point, it hasn’t been formally revealed yet, leading to widespread speculation on social media. Some popular suggestions include Ron Perlman, Bryan Cranston, and Ryan Hurst. Notably, Ryan Hurst lent his voice to Thor in God of War: Ragnarok and played Beta in The Walking Dead.
Yet, a name that appears most frequently is Jon Bernthal. He’s well-known for portraying The Punisher in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and delivering a standout performance as Shane during the initial seasons of The Walking Dead.

Since Kirkman has already brought several stars from The Walking Dead into the Invincible cast (such as Steven Yeun, Ross Marquand, and Lauren Cohan), wouldn’t it be intriguing to also recruit the show’s first major villain to play Invincible’s main adversary?
I strongly prefer Jon Bernthal for the role, and I don’t want Thragg’s voice to be incredibly deep, but I do require it to be chilling, extremely so. That’s why I believe he would excel in the part.
1. “One user suggested that Jon Bernthal would be phenomenal as the character Thragg, given his ability to portray chilling intensity. This role would also serve as another connection to ‘The Walking Dead.’ Another user agreed, stating that Robert Kirkman has been drawing from ‘The Walking Dead’ for voices in this show, and they believe Jon Bernthal could excel as Thragg.”
2. “The first post mentioned that Jon Bernthal would be exceptional as Thragg due to his talent for portraying a cold demeanor, and it’s another opportunity to link the character to ‘The Walking Dead.’ A second user agreed, implying that Robert Kirkman has been using ‘The Walking Dead’ influences for voices in this show, and they think Jon Bernthal could do well as Thragg.”
“Hey, so who do I have to talk to ask that Jon Bernthal be cast as Thragg?” a fourth asked.
While waiting, let’s delve into the latest updates on Invincible Season 4 and, if you’re eager for more spoilers, learn how to explore the Invincible comics yourself. This way, you’ll uncover the fates of characters such as Powerplex, Oliver, and Darkwing II.

In addition, we had a chat with Robert Kirkman, and he clarified the reasons behind Spawn’s absence in the Invincible War and why it might take some time before there’s a new Rex Splode special. He also shared some insights on the progress of the Invincible video game.
