‘Joker 2’ Footage Reveals Harvey Dent First Look as ‘Industry’ Star Harry Lawtey Takes on the Role

As a seasoned cinema enthusiast who has witnessed the evolution of DC Comics adaptations over the years, I must say that the casting of Harry Lawtey as Harvey Dent in “Joker: Folie à Deux” is nothing short of intriguing. Having followed Lawtey’s career since his days on “Industry,” I am excited to see him step into the shoes of one of Batman’s most iconic adversaries.

As a cinema enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be witnessing the return of the Joker and Harley Quinn in Todd Phillips’ upcoming sequel, “Joker: Folie à Deux.” Intriguingly, we’ve got another familiar face joining them – Harvey Dent, also known as Two-Face. This exciting revelation was unveiled by Warner Bros. earlier this week. The new footage offers a sneak peek at Harry Lawtey, who’s gained recognition for his stellar role in “Industry” on HBO and BBC Two, stepping into the shoes of Harvey Dent, one of Batman’s formidable foes.

Initially, Harvey Dent appeared in DC Comics as Gotham City’s District Attorney, who suffered a symmetrical acid attack by the mob, causing him to turn towards a life of crime and two distinct personalities. In “Folie à Deux,” it seems that Lawtey is portraying a rising version of the character, as he appears on TV news with a caption labeling him as an assistant district attorney.

“Arthur Fleck is a malevolent individual with a clear intent. According to Lawtey’s Dent, his heinous actions incited violence among his supporters, and they continue to be ready to carry out violent acts in his name.”

Dent has proved to be a popular rogue for film adaptations of Batman. The character was first portrayed in a feature by Tommy Lee Jones in 1995’s “Batman Forever,” starring alongside Jim Carrey as the Riddler. Aaron Eckhart then took on the role of Dent in “The Dark Knight,” which followed the District Attorney’s fall from a public idol to a coin-flipping criminal after being disfigured by the Joker. Whether Lawtey’s version of Dent will transform into Two-Face in “Folie à Deux” remains to be seen.

The movie titled “Joker: Folie à Deux,” featuring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga, is set to hit theatres on October 4th. This film will have its first screening at the Venice Film Festival on a Wednesday.
