Johnny Somali acknowledges that incarceration might be the sole means to halt his questionable content, since he’s once more being charged in South Korea.
By the close of 2024, internet personality Johnny Somali, known off-screen as Ramsey Khalid Ismael, stirred up turmoil in both Japan and Israel. Subsequently, he steered his way towards South Korea, where events have taken an even more contentious turn.
The individual who was prohibited from using KICK, found himself accused of disrupting business following a disorderly live broadcast inside a 7-Eleven store. Furthermore, he faced criticism for delaying public transportation by blasting music loudly, as well as kissing the Peace Statue and playing North Korean promotional material.
The allegations against Somali have been piling up, among them one linked to the creation of AI deepfakes involving the South Korean streamer, BongBong. This particular accusation seems to carry a “compulsory” prison sentence, as there is no provision for paying fines instead.
Johnny Somali says prison would send him “crazy”
As per Somali’s statement, the only means to halt his questionable content seems to be through imprisonment, since he has acknowledged that it’s not a question of ‘if’, but rather ‘when’, he will end up in jail.
He expressed that the life he leads and the choices he’s made are significant. Upon returning home from Japan, as well as on other occasions, he found himself in isolation for approximately 110 days. In conversation with a film crew about his live streams, he explained that he felt restless and unoccupied, stating it like this: “I was just itching, I was bored.” However, he also added that these periods of solitude add intrigue to his life, making it more engaging in a unique way.
He mentioned that he’s currently putting both his mental and physical well-being on the line. A few days ago, someone hit him in the back of the head, which only adds to the stress. He feels like he’s constantly giving more than he can handle. If, and only if, he ends up going to prison, he expressed that he might feel overwhelmed and potentially lose himself. At that point, he fears he might completely snap.
For the sake of your well-being and health, I hope that imprisonment serves as a means for Johnny Somali to break free from his excessive content creation habit, which has become detrimental. #johnnysomali

Regardless of the current court case, Somali hasn’t softened or altered any of his content. He was apprehended in late March following a provocative encounter with South Korean authorities.
During his live stream, he mentioned that an unidentified individual unexpectedly assaulted him, delivering a punch right to his head.
