Johnny Somali Faces 31 Years in Prison After New Sex Crime and Deepfake Charges Emerge

In South Korea, live streamer John Somali faces additional sexual offense charges, potentially facing up to 31 years imprisonment if convicted.

In the year 2024, Ramsey Khalid Ismael, who is more commonly known as Johnny Somali, made a trip to South Korea, picking up from his disruptions in Japan and Israel.

In 2024, Johnny Somali (Ramsey Khalid Ismael) carried on the disturbances he had started in Japan and Israel by visiting South Korea.

Across many live streams, this individual showed disregard for Koreans, caused disturbances in businesses, clashed with fellow content producers, and was defeated by a retired Korean Navy SEAL.

This version aims to be more conversational while still maintaining the original meaning and clarity.

In the course of an ongoing trial, it was determined that Somali would face charges related to some of his streaming content. His initial court appearance was marked by tardiness and apparent intoxication. Subsequent to this incident, additional, more severe accusations have been leveled against him.

On May 8, 2025, it emerged that Somali faced additional accusations for a second sex-related offense, potentially extending his sentence by over a decade when combined with existing charges.

Johnny Somali was already facing prison time after allegedly using AI Deepfakes to create a video that looked like he was kissing popular Korean streamer BongBong.

South Korea hits Johnny Somali with more Deepfake charges

As a dedicated fan, I learned from YouTube’s legal expert, Legal Mindset, that Johnny Somali has been charged for a second time with disseminating misleading videos manipulated using Deepfake technology. This act is regarded as a form of sexual offense under Korean law.

Earlier, I found myself in a tricky situation, accused of creating and distributing a deepfake video showing me kissing the popular Korean streamer, BongBong.

However, it seems that the second allegation against Somali, according to Legal Mindset, might originate from other Korean streamers who have had conflicts with Somali, like the Korean Navy SEAL who faced a fine after hitting an American.

As a gamer, I’d put it this way: If they convict him on both charges, he’s looking at up to 10.5 years for each count. That means he could spend as much as 21 years in prison, which is quite a long time to be away from the gaming world!

Apart from the other accusations, he has only admitted guilt for one charge – Obstructing Business. However, there’s another charge leveled against him as well. The charge of Obstructing Business can result in a maximum punishment of five years.

In summary, should he be convicted on all charges and receive the highest possible sentence for each, his term would amount to 31 years in total.

Beyond the current allegations against him for threatening to spread HIV, broadcasting North Korean propaganda, and breaching anti-terrorism regulations, there may be additional charges yet to be brought forward against Ismael.
