John Wick: Chapter 4 Rises to the Top as Ballerina’s Release Approaches!

As a cinephile looking back, it’s been more than ten years since I first experienced the captivating universe of this iconic franchise. Since then, we’ve seen four exhilarating installments in the primary series and an enthralling prequel spinoff. Now, I’m eagerly anticipating the next chapter – the upcoming first spinoff film, titled “,” featuring the talented Ana de Armas.

Following a postponement of one year, the action movie “Ballerina” is set to premiere on June 6. This upcoming film focuses on Eve Macarro, a character who is both a ballerina and an assassin, initially introduced in “John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum”. Keanu Reeves reprises his role as the renowned assassin in this new movie. Prior to its theater debut, “John Wick: Chapter 4”, which is considered the best John Wick film and will be released in 2023, is currently trending on Peacock.

For the last week, “John Wick: Chapter 4” has been consistently ranking among the top movies. It hovered between positions three and four, but on May 25th, it soared to take the number one spot on the charts. Additionally, the film has garnered interest on Amazon Prime in various regions this week, such as Austria, Germany, and Switzerland.

The entire film series, including each individual movie, has been both praised by critics and proved successful commercially. Each of the four films have garnered positive reviews from critics, earning them Certified Fresh badges. The least favorably reviewed entry is the initial installment, which received a commendable 86% approval rating from critics and an audience score of 72%.

In my opinion, I’ve found John Wick: Chapter 4 to be the standout in the series, a claim backed by its impressive ratings. It boasts an outstanding 94% approval from critics and 93% satisfaction from viewers, earning the badges of ‘Certified Fresh’ and ‘Verified Hot’. The film has been praised for its edge-of-your-seat action sequences, remarkable stunt work, and stunning cinematography.

In terms of earnings, John Wick: Chapter 4 is the most successful film in the series so far. Compared to the original’s global box office collection of $87.7 million in 2014, the sequel from 2017 made over double that amount with a total of $171.5 million worldwide. The third installment increased this even further, earning $326.6 million globally. However, John Wick: Chapter 4 outdid them all by grossing an impressive $447.3 million worldwide.

Keanu Reeves Will Return in John Wick 5

In the upcoming movie “Ballerina,” Reeves will be featured, marking the first standalone film in the series. Interestingly, this movie takes place between the third and fourth installments, yet it doesn’t alter the original timeline or the events that conclude in “John Wick: Chapter 4.” Instead, it represents a unique storyline for him on its own.

Regarding the upcoming fifth film in the series, franchise director Chad Stahelski explained how the new movie will continue the narrative post-Chapter 4, where the main character John Wick sustained injuries after battling Caine, played by Donnie Yen. The director hinted that this installment would present a fresh storyline centering around John Wick once again.

John Wick’s tale seemed to reach its conclusion,” he mentioned. “To create a Chapter 5, we need a fresh narrative that brings back John Wick. It won’t be a direct sequel; we’ve moved beyond the High Table. John has faced and overcome his sorrow. It will be quite distinct, and viewers [will] exclaim, ‘Wow… I can’t wait to watch it.” The director also hinted that this new installment might be the most intense yet.

Ballerina comes out in theaters on June 6. John Wick 5 doesn’t have a release date yet.
