Keanu Reeves states he’s not kept count of the number of characters who’ve met their demise in the “John Wick” series.
At the “Ballerina” premiere on Tuesday, Reeves said that John is concentrating on one task at a time. He’s not concerned with other things; instead, he’s merely trying to make it through each day.
Chad Stahelski, who is responsible for directing the first four “John Wick” films and managing the franchise’s content across all platforms for Lionsgate, estimates that the series has surpassed a thousand deaths. He believes they are close to this number, perhaps even right around it.

Chad Stahelski, the man behind the camera for the initial four “John Wick” movies and the overseer of the franchise’s content across all Lionsgate media, thinks the death toll in the series might exceed a thousand. He suspects they are close to this mark, maybe even right on it.
Stahelski also gave an update on the fifth “John Wick” movie.
He replied thoughtfully when I inquired about the potential start date. “We’re still figuring that out,” he explained. “For us, it’s all about timing. Once everything feels right, when we’ve visualized the entire movie and have a clear understanding of the themes and the cast we wish to work with, then we’ll be ready to begin.
In a recent interview with Empire, Stahelski mentioned that the fifth “John Wick” movie will be quite distinct because the narrative arc of the High Table, which has been central in the first four films, has now reached its logical end.
He mentioned that the tale of ‘John Wick’ had essentially concluded. To create another film (the fifth), they need to introduce a fresh narrative featuring John Wick. It won’t be a follow-up tied to the High Table. John has dealt with his sorrow. The new storyline will be quite distinct, and people will likely exclaim, ‘Wow! I can’t wait to see it!’
As a cinephile, I’m eagerly anticipating “Ballerina,” a film that follows Ana de Armas as she portrays a deadly assassin from the Ruska Roma, on a quest for vengeance over her father’s untimely demise. Joining her in this captivating tale are stars like Keanu Reeves, Anjelica Huston, Ian McShane, Gabriel Byrne, Norman Reedus, Catalina Sandino Moreno, and the late Lance Reddick. This ensemble promises a riveting experience!
Len Wiseman’s first directorial venture in the “John Wick” series is labeled as “Ballerina”. He admitted he welcomes the challenge of meeting the franchise’s high standards. In his own words, “I thrive under pressure.” He explained that he views pressure as a source of inspiration, fueling his creativity. If there was no pressure, he said, it would be uninteresting to him.
“Ballerina” is in theaters on June 6.
