Regarding Ethan, he currently oversees the family businesses. Following the demise of John Wayne due to stomach cancer, his children established the John Wayne Cancer Institute at St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica, California, as a tribute to their father and an effort to combat the disease that claimed him. After Michael’s passing in 2003, Ethan assumed control over John Wayne Enterprises with the intention of preserving his dad’s legacy. Additionally, he serves as chairperson of the John Wayne Cancer Foundation.
