Sunrise Films has secured the U.S. distribution rights for “Mr. Blake at Your Service,” a French comedy-drama featuring John Malkovich, Fanny Ardant, and the late Émilie Dequenne. They are aiming to release it in theaters on June 20th.
The movie titled “Well Done!” features one of John Malkovich’s infrequent French-language roles, where he portrays Andrew Blake, a British businessman who has recently lost his wife. To keep close to the memories of his deceased French spouse, he takes up a job as a butler at a picturesque countryside manor. As Blake interacts with the peculiar inhabitants of this estate, he finds himself on an unanticipated path of recovery and rediscovery.
In this production, Ardant assumes the role of Nathalie de Beauvillier, a reserved and peculiar woman of the manor. On the other hand, Dequenne gives her last screen performance as Odile, a lively cook. The main cast is completed by Eugénie Anselin, Al Ginter, Anne Brionne, and Christel Henon.
Renowned author Gilles Legardinier stepped into the director’s chair for the first time, adapting his 2012 book “Complètement cramé!” for the big screen. Legardinier collaborated on the script with Cristel Henon. Stéphane Le Parc handles the cinematography, while Yves Deschamps and Chrystel Alépée take care of the editing. Erwann Chandon contributes an original score to the movie.
Henon and Lilian Eche teamed up with Bidibul Productions, in partnership with Superprod, for their latest project, with Legardinier acting as co-producer. Notably, Bidibul Productions is the studio behind the 2025 Palme d’Or winner, “It Was Just an Accident,” directed by the esteemed Iranian director Jafar Panahi.
Back in 2023, I had the privilege of making my U.S. debut at the Newport Beach Film Festival. Since then, I’ve been warmly welcomed on the big screens in various countries such as France, Spain, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Australia, and New Zealand. Additionally, I’ve been showcased at numerous film festivals around the globe. It’s truly humbling to see my journey unfold on such a grand scale!
Andrew Nerger, head of distribution at Sunrise Films, is thrilled to announce that the enchanting ‘Mr. Blake at Your Service!’ will soon be gracing U.S. audiences,” he said. “From our first viewing, it had us hooked, and we can’t wait for you to share our enthusiasm when it premieres in June.
