As a seasoned movie buff with a penchant for the behind-the-scenes drama of Tinseltown, I must say that John D. Kimble‘s life story is as captivating as any blockbuster Hollywood production. Born in the heart of Texas, he dreamt of riding off into the sunset on a silver screen steed, but fate had another plan for him – one that saw him becoming an influential figure in the world of talent representation instead.

John D. Kimble, a well-known talent agent who had spent many years in Hollywood, passed away on Sunday in Dallas. He was 79 years old.

Growing up in Kingsville and Uvalde, Texas, I later studied theater at the University of Texas, El Paso. Initially, my dream was to star in Western films, but fate led me to a contract offer through Screen Gems. However, instead of acting, I chose to represent actors, kicking off my career by working alongside Joan Scott at Writers and Artists Agency.

In 1977, Kimble established his independent business, and the following year, he combined it with Gene Parseghian’s agency to form Kimble/Parseghian in New York City. Their clientele consisted of notable figures such as William Hurt, Pamela Reed, Kevin Bacon, Griffin Dunne, Martin Short, and Andrea Martin.

Initially, Kimble relocated to California for the purpose of establishing his agency’s L.A. branch. Subsequently, he joined forces with Arnold Rifkin, Nicole David, and Jeffrey Hunter to establish DHKPR. In the year 1984, they expanded by incorporating literary agency Adams-Ray-Rosenberg and Regency Artists, thereby giving birth to Triad Artists.

His passion for design and accumulating items likewise prompted him to establish Kimble-Wallach, a shop specializing in antiques and interior design, located in the heart of Beverly Hills.

At Triad, some of the high-profile clients that Kimble worked with were George Clooney, Matthew Perry, Sara Gilbert, Brooke Shields, Victoria Principal, Nell Carter, and Meredith Baxter.

In 1991, Triad joined forces with William Morris Agency, leading their television talent department. By 2002, he decided to focus on creative projects and began working for Meridith Baer Home, a company specializing in home staging and interior design.

I have a loving niece, Kimberly Robinson (married to Jeffrey Robinson), a cherished nephew Steven Brewer (with wife Kristin Brewer), three wonderful great-grandnephews Carson, Riley, and Wes, and a beloved grandniece Ashley Robinson, along with another nephew, Austin Robinson. They are my legacy, the ones who carry on my memories and love in their lives.

Donations be made in his name to the Briscoe Animal Rescue Center of Uvalde.
