John Goodman ‘Experienced a Hip Injury’ During Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s Tom Cruise Starrer, Production Delayed in U.K.

In a recent development, John Goodman suffered an injury to his hip while working on Alejandro González Iñárritu’s latest movie featuring Tom Cruise, causing a hold-up in filming in the U.K. for Warner Bros, according to EbMaster’s confirmation.

John Goodman, the actor, sustained an injury to his hip,” stated a representative from Warner Bros. “This required prompt treatment, resulting in a temporary halt of filming for his recuperation period. Filming will resume the following week once John has fully recovered.

In October, it was exclusively revealed by EbMaster that filming for Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s unnamed project would begin in the U.K. come November. This is Iñárritu’s first English-language movie since “The Revenant” in 2016, which finally brought Leonardo DiCaprio his long-awaited Oscar. Iñárritu himself will produce and co-write the script with Sabina Berman and fellow “Birdman” screenwriters Nicolas Giacobone and Alexander Dinelaris. As of now, specifics about the storyline are still kept secret.

Other cast members include Sandra Hüller, Michael Stuhlbarg, Jesse Plemons and Sophie Wilde.

This upcoming movie marks Tom Cruise’s initial venture since he signed an agreement in early 2024 to create and distribute films for Warner Bros., following a collaboration with them on the time-traveling sci-fi thriller “Edge of Tomorrow,” which was released more than a decade ago.

Currently, Goodman, an Academy Award-winning actor, has been predominantly active in television productions. His recent television roles can be seen on series such as “The Conners,” “Monsters at Work,” “The Freak Brothers,” and “The Righteous Gemstones.” In the film industry, Goodman is widely recognized for his parts in movies like “Monsters Inc.,” “Barton Fink,” “The Flintstones,” “The Big Lebowski,” “The Emperor’s New Groove” and “Flight.
