John Carroll Lynch Joins ‘Bosch’ Renee Ballard Spinoff

As a dedicated follower of crime dramas and a connoisseur of exceptional acting talent, I am thrilled to see John Carroll Lynch join the cast of the upcoming “Bosch” spinoff. His versatility, spanning across various genres, is nothing short of impressive. From his chilling roles in horror masterpieces like “American Horror Story” and “Fargo,” to his gripping performances in dramas such as “The Trial of the Chicago 7” and “Zodiac,” Lynch has consistently proven his mettle.

It’s been confirmed that the unnamed “Bosch” spinoff, which follows cold case detective Renee Ballard, has added John Carroll Lynch as a recurring character, according to our sources.

Previously mentioned, Maggie Q has been chosen to portray Ballard in the upcoming Amazon MGM Studios series, with Courtney Taylor taking on the role of Zamira Parker. Similar to “Bosch”, this show is adapted from the novels penned by Michael Connelly.

The show revolves around Ballard, who is assigned to manage the newly established cold case division of the LAPD. This team, underfunded and staffed by volunteers, has the most extensive caseload in the city. With compassion and resolve, Ballard delves into these seemingly untouchable cases. As she unearths a larger conspiracy while working on her investigations, she’ll rely on Harry Bosch, her former ally who has since retired, to help navigate the perils that jeopardize not only her team but also her life.

Lynch is set to portray Thomas Laffont, an ex-police partner who returns to assist Ballard in managing the Cold Case Unit. He’s a compassionate veteran detective, adept at questioning, and provides a solid foundation for Ballard.

Actor Lynch demonstrates remarkable adaptability and skill, taking on characters in diverse genres such as dramas, comedies, and horror flicks. Notable performances of his include appearances in movies like “The Trial of the Chicago 7,” “Zodiac,” “The Founder,” “Shutter Island,” and “Fargo.” On television, he’s recognized for series including “American Horror Story,” “Gaslit,” “Big Sky,” “The Drew Carey Show,” and “The Americans.”

He is repped by Suskin/Karshan Management and Schreck Rose.

The Ballard series is overseen by executive producers Jet Wilkinson, Connelly, Michael Alaimo, and Kendall Sherwood. Additionally, Alaimo and Sherwood are the showrunners. Henrik Bastin and Melissa Aouate will also serve as executive producers for Fabel Entertainment, with Jasmine Russ as associate executive producer. Meanwhile, Jamie Boscardin Martin, Mark Douglas, and Trey Batchelor will act as co-executive producers. Theresa Snider is the co-executive producer for Hieronymus Pictures.
