Joey King is in talks to star in “Practical Magic 2” alongside Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman.
She’s rumored to be portraying the daughter of Bullock’s character. In the upcoming movie, Bullock and Kidman will reprise their roles as Sally and Gillian Owens, two sisters who hail from a lineage of witches. In the 1998 film, these characters were battling against a spell that claimed the lives of the men they romantically involved with. As for the plot details of the second movie, they remain undisclosed, but it’s said to be based on a later book in Alice Hoffman’s “Practical Magic” series.
Director Susanne Bier is set to take on “Practical Magic 2,” a screenplay penned by Akiva Goldsman, who collaborated on the original film’s script. The production is slated to begin in London this coming summer, as reported by Hollywood Reporter, who also announced the addition of King to the cast. Warner Bros. has scheduled the supernatural sequel for a cinema release on September 18, 2026.
Nicole Kidman has shared with EbMaster that she’s reviewed the script but doesn’t anticipate filming to start immediately. A few additional weeks or months isn’t much to worry about at this stage. Interestingly, the Academy Award-winning actress has been eagerly awaiting a sequel to “Practical Magic” for almost three decades now.
During the creation process, we certainly considered a follow-up,” Kidman mentioned. “We’re thrilled about it. We’ve cast our charm already.
She’s talking about the trailer that Warner Bros. put out in May earlier. This text-only video includes a voiceover from Bullock and Kidman, who recite this incantation: “Tooth of wolf and morning dew. Something old and something new. Let the spell begin to mix. Sept. 18, 2026.”
The teaser that Warner Bros. shared in May is what she’s discussing. It’s a clip with only text, accompanied by a voiceover from Bullock and Kidman who say this chant: “Tooth of wolf and morning dew. Something old and something new. Let the spell begin to mix. Sept. 18, 2026.
Joey King, who’s 25 years old, is widely recognized for her roles in the Netflix series “The Kissing Booth” franchise and Hulu’s true-crime show “The Act,” which earned her an Emmy nomination. Other notable works on her resume include “Despicable Me 4,” David Leitch’s action-comedy film “Bullet Train,” Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises” and the romantic comedy “Crazy Stupid Love.
