Joe Rogan told to “shut up” after rival podcaster knocks him off Spotify top spot

A competing podcast host reportedly advised Joe Rogan to be quiet, following news that his JRE Podcast had lost its number one position on Spotify’s charts.

When Joe Rogan sealed an exclusive contract with Spotify, his supporters pondered how this might impact his position within the podcasting sphere, given that previous experiences have shown that being absent from numerous platforms can harm podcasts.

Since then, the agreement has expired, allowing Joe Rogan’s show to be distributed once more on multiple channels such as Apple Podcasts and YouTube. Interestingly, this move hasn’t diminished his popularity on Spotify in any way.

On a popular streaming platform, The Joe Rogan Experience consistently ranks among the leading podcasts, often occupying the highest position in the charts. Nevertheless, it occasionally loses this top position, usually when a new show appears or when another podcast secures a high-profile guest.

At the tail-end of March, I found myself dethroned by the hilarious Amy Poehler, as her long-awaited talk show, ‘Good Hang with Amy Poehler’, officially debuted.

For a brief period, the role was held by the actress from Parks and Recreation, but later, Rogan regained it. Notably, during her visit to the Las Culturistas podcast in late April, Poehler subtly criticized the UFC commentator.

She’s already considered the queen of podcasting. In just a few weeks, she’s taken the top spot on Spotify. Bowen Yang made the introduction, saying ‘Good hang on, Spotify,’ before yielding to Matt Rogers who quipped, ‘Hey, Joe Rogan, take a break.’ Poehler seemed to acknowledge and agree with this comment.

It’s worth mentioning that The Joe Rogan Experience podcast has regained the top position on Spotify’s chart. Lately, it has been switching places with Theo Von’s show and Crime Junkie.

Currently, as I’m typing this, Poheler’s ‘Good Hang’ podcast has moved to the 22nd spot. However, it continues to perform strongly on Apple Podcasts as well.
